TRAVERSE CITY — Keanen Armour scored 1:19 into the third period Friday night to snap a 2-2 tie as Traverse City Central went on to beat Forest Hills Northern-Eastern 4-2 in a non-league hockey contest.
Cooper Macdonell drew the assist on the winning goal. He then added an empty net goal with 1:02 left to ice it. Armour assisted.
Forest Hills took a 1-0 lead 59 seconds into the game on a Sam Rennaker goal. The Trojans (15-3-1) tied it on Connor Gartland's power-play goal, assisted by Nico Saco and Marcus Russell. Forest Hills then regained the lead with 5:48 to go in the first period on Brad Reitter's tally.
The Trojans brought in goalie Bill Vermetten and he stopped all 21 shots he faced the remainder of the game.
Central tied it in the second period on another Gartland power-play score. Saco assisted.
The Trojans host Gaylord on Wednesday.

Grandville 9 Northwest Warriors 1
Luke Sowash scored Northwest's lone goal in a 9-1 loss to tournament host Grandville.
The unassisted goal came in the first period.
Luke Somsel made 27 saves for the Warriors, who play today at noon at Georgetown Arena in Hudsonville.
BOYS HOOPS
Alpena 55 TC West 52
Alpena led by eight at halftime and held on for a 55-52 Big North Conference victory over Traverse City Central.
The Wildcats were up 31-23 at the intermission before West trimmed six off the deficit by the end of the third quarter.
Graeme Placek scored 14 points for the Titans, while Jeremiah Williams contributed 11 points and seven rebounds and Donny Cizek had 11 points and four boards. Nate Castor scored seven, Nick Tooley grabbed eight boards and Kendrick Meyer — playing in place of Trevor Commissaris, who was in foul trouble much of the game — had 10 rebounds.
Ryan Wilk led Alpena with 18 points.
TC West (9-5, 6-3 BNC) travels Tuesday to Muskegon Heights before hosting first-place Petoskey on Friday.
West lost the JV game 54-52, ending a six-game win streak. Alex Scott scored 13 points and Ty Troxell 10 for the Titans (9-5, 7-2). Alpena is 14-0.
Gaylord 63 TC Central 60
Troy Gahm scored a game-high 28 points as Gaylord rallied for a 63-60 Big North Conference win over Traverse City Central.
The Trojans led by 10 at half, 38-28.
The Blue Devils took the lead in the fourth quarter, converting 10 of 12 free throws in the final eight minutes. For the game, Gaylord was 15 of 18 at the line, Central 10 of 25.
Ryan Verschuren topped the Trojans with 24 points. Ethan Pilarski added 11.
Central, which travels to Ogemaw Heights on Thursday, won the JV game 64-51 as Adam Stepan scored 14 points and Mitchell Wynkoop 10.
The freshmen lost 47-34.
Elk Rapids 67 East Jordan 44
Luke Morrison's 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists led Elk Rapids to a 67-44 Lake Michigan Conference win over East Jordan.
The Elks (8-3, 6-2), who host Grayling on Tuesday, led 35-15 at half. Philip Hayes and Loren Burfiend added 11 points.
John Richards netted 11 for East Jordan (3-10).
Grayling 57 Harbor Springs 45
Tom Burrell had 16 points and 11 rebounds as Grayling topped Harbor Springs 57-45 despite losing one of its top players to a knee injury.
Zane Tobin left the game in the third quarter and didn't return. His status for Tuesday's Lake Michigan Conference tilt with Elk Rapids is unknown.
Tobin had 13 points before the injury.
Steven Enos had 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Riley Zigila pitched in 11 points.
Spencer Kloss led the Rams with 15 points.
Grayling improved to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in LMC play.
Benzie Central 63 Glen Lake 49
Benzie Central, down 43-40 after three quarters, outscored Glen Lake 23-6 over the final eight minutes to beat the Lakers 63-49 in Northwest Conference play.
Connor Stapleton scored a career-high 34 points for the Huskies (7-5, 7-1). He was 12 of 12 at the foul line in the second half. Corey Weaver and Corey Bock added 10 points. Michael O'Brien led the Lakers with 16 points. Parker Kokowicz had 15.
Suttons Bay 56 Mesick 48
Suttons Bay, trailing in the fourth quarter, battled back for a 56-48 Northwest Conference win over Mesick.
Greg Banks topped the Norsemen (10-2, 6-1) with 18 points. Mason Darling added 12.
Thane Herbet scored 15 points, Shawn Bates 14 and Andre Whittaker 11 for the Bulldogs.
Leland 74 Buckley 66
Paul Bardenhagen led a balanced attack with 18 points as Leland pulled away to a 74-66 Northwest Conference win over Buckley.
The Comets (6-4, 4-4) led 34-30 at half. Dylan Jolliffe added 17 points, John Simons 12 and A.J. Whittaker 10 for Leland, which hosts Benzie Central on Wednesday. Simons also had 10 rebounds.
Jake Larson netted 17 points, Mike Baldinger 16 and Evan Chalker 15 for Buckley.
Frankfort 60 Kingsley 38
Frankfort hit 17-of-22 free throws in the fourth quarter to complete a comeback win over Kingsley.
The Stags led 20-18 at halftime before a 16-1 third-quarter run by the Panthers.
Brandon Miller scored 21 points and David Loney 16 to lead Frankfort.
Jack Ocobock scored 10 to pace Kingsley (5-7, 3-5 Northwest Conference), while Austin Nagy and Austin Olson had seven each. The Stags travel Wednesday to Mesick.
Gaylord St. Mary 54 Onaway 49
Matt Spyhalski's 13 points helped Gaylord St. Mary to a 54-49 Ski Valley Conference victory over Onaway.
Patrick Switalski added 11 points for the Snowbirds (6-5, 5-3 SVC), who travel Monday to Pickford for a non-league contest.
Joe O'Bradovich led Onaway with 10 points.
Forest Area 69 Johannesburg 35
Freshman Austin Vance had 21 points, five rebounds and five steals as Forest Area beat Ski Valley rival Johannesburg-Lewiston 69-35.
Ryan Magee contributed 19 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Jermaine Nix had 14 points for the Warriors (5-4, 3-3).
Brian VanCoillie's 13 points led the Cardinals.
Mancelona 43 Ellsworth 37
Freshman Brandon Dingman had 17 points, hitting four consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter, as Mancelona held off Ellsworth 43-37 in a non-league game.
Dingman also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for the Ironmen (5-7), who led 37-29 after three quarters. Kyle Shepperley chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.
Matt Barraw netted 16 points and Jake Seaney 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for Ellsworth (4-8).
GT Academy 41 TCBAA 34
Grand Traverse Academy's Alex Houston went point for point with the Traverse City Bulldogs' Richie Friske, but GTA was able to come away with a 41-34 victory.
Both Houston and Friske scored 18 points.
Tim Fraser added six points for the Mustangs, and Mitch Drilling pitched in eight rebounds and four steals.
GT Academy (4-5) hosts Lake Leelanau St. Mary's on Monday.
McBain 62 Pine River 34
McBain remained perfect in the Highland Conference with a 62-34 victory over Pine River before a packed-out Homecoming crowd.
The Ramblers (11-2, 8-0) led 15-5, 34-9 and 44-24 at the quarter breaks.
Junior guard Jared Larr and senior Derek Vongphasouk tamed the twine for 14 points apiece while forward Kyle Zuiderveen scored nine, Nate Buning six, Tim Bowers six and Homecoming King Nathan Smith four. Senior point guard Logan Nemeth had six steals, including five in the first half, and five assists.
Point guard Mitch McDonald and Hunter Powell each had 11 for the Bucks.
McBain travels to Lake City on Thursday.

Kevin Smith scored 12 points and Nolan Davenport 10 as Lake City posted a 56-41 Highland Conference win over Manton.
Dean Farve tossed in 19 and Aaron Powell eight for the Rangers (6-7, 2-6), who travel to Traverse City Christian on Tuesday.

Bellaire held Central Lake to six second-half points in a 71-23 Ski Valley Conference win.
The Eagles (12-0, 9-0 SVC) led 38-17 at the half.
Reece Koepke had 23 points for Bellaire, Casey Poel scored nine points and rew Bailey added eight points.
Manistee Catholic 61 Brethren 33
Manistee Catholic Central coach Dale Edmondson said it was the first 32-minute complete game by his Sabers, and the result was a 61-33 victory over Brethren.
Manistee CC (11-3, 10-1 Western Michigan D League) received 18 points each from Zach Bialik and Ben Feliczak.
Alex Bialik added nine points and five rebounds and Nathan Papes had seven points.
Gary Lodin led Brethren — which was held to 22-percent shooting — with 13 points.
Manistee CC hosts Lake Leelanau St. Mary's on Wednesday and travels Friday to Bear Lake.
GIRLS HOOPS
Charlevoix 54 Boyne City 50
Megan Peters scored 15 points as Charlevoix posted a 54-50 Lake Michigan Conference victory over Boyne City.
Jenna Way added 14 points for the Rayders (4-9, 2-7 LMC), who travel Tuesday to Kalkaska and host Elk Rapids on Friday.
McBain 70 Lake City 29
McBain sisters Annemarie Hamlet and Meredith Hamlet combined for 43 points as the Ramblers celebrated Homecoming with a 70-29 victory over Lake City.
Annemarie, a senior bound for Oakland University, scored 24 with seven steals and Meredith, the freshman point guard, tallied 19 with seven assists as McBain (12-1, 9-0) remained unbeaten in the Highland Conference.
Senior center Dani Hoekwater scored seven and grabbed eight rebounds and reserve guard Kaitlyn Bronkema hit for eight. Brittany Watson grabbed seven rebounds.
Sophomore Maggie Eising put 11 on the board for the Trojans (3-10, 1-7).
TCBAA 48 GT Academy 19
Casie Plamondon had 14 points and seven steals as the Traverse City Bulldogs Athletic Associated defeated Grand Traverse Academy 48-19.
Molly Plamondon added 12 points and six steals, Sara Plamondon eight points and nine rebounds and Lorielei Grant 10 rebounds and nine assists for the Bulldogs (11-4), who face Alba at Leelanau School on Tuesday.
