Central boys, Petoskey girls win ski meet

Traverse City Central's girls were without top skier Maddie McLachlan and Petoskey took advantage for a win at a Big North Conference meet at Nub's Nob.

The Northmen had 39 points, followed by the Trojans (42) and TC West (102).

For Central, Ellen Whiting was second in the slalom (55.43) while Mallory Weaver was fourth (57.79) and Adrienne Bruder ninth (59.79). Whiting was second in the GS (58.29), Sierra Olsen was third (60.37), Bruder was fifth (60.67), Cecily Olsen sixth (60.68) and Cassie Klein was ninth (61.21).

In the boys meet, TC Central won with 36.5 points. Cadillac was second (83) and TC West finished fourth (92.5).

Kalvis Hornburg was second for the Trojans in the slalom (51.97), Micah Appel was fourth (52.73), Briggs Chapman fifth (54.51) and Chris Carefoot ninth (55.69). Hornburg was second in the GS (59.87), Chapman was third (60.36), Carefoot fifth (61.09), Mark Madion sixth (61.49) and Appel eighth (61.70).

Cadillac's Carter Marsh won both the slalom (50.59) and the giant slalom (58.86).
