ALPENA -- Traverse City West notched a three-game win over Alpena to get back over .500 and stay in the Big North Conference hunt.
The Titans (15-14-2, 6-2 BNC) downed the Wildcats 26-24, 25-10, 25-8.
The Titans were led by the efforts of Gaby Muller (11 kills, eight digs), Ellen Patenaude (eight kills, 11 digs, four aces, three blocks), Courtney Saxton (11 digs), Tayler Rodes (five kills) and Paige Johns (25 assists, three aces).
West closes out the league slate with road games against Petoskey and Cadillac.
The Titans also won the junior varsity match by a 28-26, 25-22, 25-17 score.
Leading TC West were Lauren Ellison (six kills, four digs), Courtney VanHouzen (four kills) Colby Forton (four digs, three aces), Delaney Deisig (four digs, three aces) and Hannah Townsend (eight digs).
West won the freshman match 25-17, 25-20, 25-14, paced by Jessica Kalbfleisch (seven kills) and Jill Turnquist (25 assists).

St. Francis raised its Lake Michigan Conference record to 10-1 with a 25-21, 25-13, 25-18 win over Kalkaska.
The Gladiators (24-4) were led by Abby Clear (19 kills, three aces, four blocks), Vanessa Fisher (seven kills, two blocks, three digs), Bailey Ray (four kills, four aces, 15 digs), Emily Buckel (32 assists) and Bridget Bussell (six blocks).
St., Francis is at Harbor Springs tonight. The Rams handed the Gladiators their only league loss this season.
The Gladiators won the JV match 28-26, 25-15, 15-7 to improve to 11-1 in league play.
St. Francis was led by Liza Erickson (eight kills, two digs, two aces), Hannah Mikula (eight kills, two digs, two aces, one block) and Abby Shrift (four kills, two digs, eight aces). The Glads play in TC West's junior varsity tournament on Saturday.

With Jason Send dogged by multiple defenders, Taehoon Kim stepped up to fill the scoring void for Traverse City Christian in a 3-1 victory over Leland.
Kim scored the game's first and last goals.
Kim and Michael Weber each netted first-half goals to put the Sabres (19-2, 11-0 Great Northwest Conference) up 2-0 at halftime.
Leland responded with a Justin Machelski goal midway through the second half before Kim scored again for a two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute.
McKenzie Domine and Send had assists on Kim's goals.
David Gallagher and Jonathan Rudolph split time in goal for Christian.

Suttons Bay wrapped up its Great Northwest Conference season with a 3-0 win over Benzie.
Ryan Manning and Danny Holmes each had a goal and an assist in the win. Evan Glowicki also tallied -- his goal staked the Norsemen to a 1-0 lead at half. Chris Kiessel drew one assist. Jared Orban posted the shutout in goal.
It was Senior Night as Suttons Bay recognized seven seniors, plus a foreign exchange student
"The commitment those (seniors) players have made to the Suttons Bay soccer program over the last four years has been tremendous," coach Randy U'Ren said.

Nate Sharpe and Andrew Black scored goals to lead Glen Lake to a 2-1 victory over Northport.
Luke Wichtoski set up Sharpe's goal and Ryan Black had three saves in net.
Armando Hernandez scored off an Evan Morgan assist for Northport (7-10-1).
The Lakers (8-10-1) host McBain Northern Michigan Christian on Friday.

Colton Gelinas scored four goals and Dylan Wednieski three as Kalkaska rung up an 8-0 win over Buckley.
Mason Moses added a goal and Nathan Hartzell and Tyler Carson had two assists each.
Travis Schuba made three saves for the Blazers (8-8-1), who host Elk Rapids on Thursday.

Onaway, Joburg win Ski Valley titles
Onaway put five runners in the top 11 to win the boys Ski Valley Conference championship.
The Cardinals finished with 26 points. They were followed by Central Lake (50), Gaylord St. Mary (64), Mancelona (79) and Inland Lakes (117).
Central Lake's Jordan Becker was the overall winner in 16:50. Onaway's Lain Veihl (17:03) and Anthony Lane (17:39) placed second and third. Central Lake's Zack Harvey came in fourth (17:45). Harvey was followed by Onaway's Kyle Moreau (18:03), Mancelona's Shayne Digman (18:16), St. Mary's Pat Makarewicz (18:32) and Luke Wisniewski (18:36), Inland Lakes' Josh Passino (18:49) and Onaway's Beau March (18:55) and Collin Hoffmeyer (18:58).
Johannesburg-Lewiston won the girls crown with 33 points. Inland Lakes was second (40) and Onaway third (52).
Bellaire's Emily Kwekel was the overall winner in 20:06. She was followed by Inland Lakes' Hannah Passino (20:26), Onaway's Allie Nave (20:42), Johannesburg's Meridith DeLuca (21:00), Central Lake's Sarah Lambert (21:21), Inland Lakes' Emilie Hungerford (21:53) and Rebecca Step (22:10), St. Mary's Bekah Masko (22:15), Johannesburg's Nicole Bush (22:19) and Bellaire's Katie Odom (22:48).
