Soccer Roundup: Sabres down Blazers

KALKASKA -- Traverse City Christian advanced to the district finals with a tight 2-1 win over Kalkaska.

The Sabres went up 2-0 after going into halftime deadlocked at zero. Jason Send scored both goals, one on an assist by Taehoon Kim and another by Scottie Raetz.

The Blazers later notched a Colton Gelinas goal while Send was sitting out with a yellow card.

TC Christian (21-2) will play Charlevoix in Friday's district final, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Kalkaska. The No. 5-ranked Rayders (19-1) downed Elk Rapids 4-0.

Suttons Bay 6
Forest Area 1

Down 1-0 at the break, Suttons Bay came out on fire in the second half for a 6-1 Division 4 district semifinal win over Forest Area.

The Norsemen (14-6-2) face Glen Lake on Friday afternoon for the championship. It will be a repeat of last year's title game.

Despite outshooting the Warriors 14-4, Suttons Bay trailed after 40 minutes as Justin Jensen found the back of the net for Forest Area.

Ryan Manning netted two of the six second-half goals. Bobby Latorre, Evan Glowicki, Danny Holmes and Taylor Hoensheid also tallied. Holmes contributed three assists and Glowicki and Hoensheid one apiece.

Burt Lake NMC 4
Harbor Springs 0

Aaron Chatfield netted three goals to power Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian to a 4-0 Division 4 district semifinal win over Harbor Springs.

Paul Chatfield added a goal and an assist for the Eagles (19-4), who will play Harbor Light for the title on Saturday. Stephen Thompson had two assists and Nathan Schehuber one for Burt Lake. Josh Fosmore posted six saves.
