Ryan Verschuren scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the third quarter Thursday night as Traverse City Central beat Big North Conference rival Ogemaw Heights 53-47.
The game was tied 21-21 at half, but the Trojans pulled ahead in the third quarter, thanks to Verschuren.
Ethan Pilarski added eight points for Central, hitting six free throws in the fourth quarter.
The Trojans (5-10, 3-7) got a lift off the bench from T.J. Schepperly and Gabe Couturier as they both chipped in six points.
Jordan Moore led Ogemaw Heights (4-11, 2-8) with 15 points. Sheldon Roberto had 10.
Central won the JV game 45-36 as Max Knoblock and Brett Spanski netted 10 points apiece.
The freshmen won 68-10 as Abe Lewis scored 12 points and Sean Williams 10.
Central hosts Mt. Pleasant next Friday.
GT Academy 55 Cadillac Heritage 25
Alex Houston's 31 points, seven steals and six blocks led Grand Traverse Academy to a 55-25 win over Cadillac Heritage.
Mitchell Drilling pulled down 16 rebounds for the Mustangs (5-6), who host the Petoskey Barnstormers tonight.
McBain 73 Lake City 55
McBain started slowly against Lake City's tight zone defense but used its transition game to pull away from the host Trojans in the second quarter en route to a 73-55 Highland Conference victory.
Junior Jared Larr hit a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter to help ignite the Ramblers (13-2, 9-0), who remained unbeaten in the conference.
Larr paced McBain with 17 points and fellow guard Derek Vongphasouk hit for 16, going 6-for-8 from the line. Brian Sterk scored nine and Kyle Zuiderveen five.
Nolan Davenport tamed the twine for 15 points to lead the Trojans (11-4, 5-4) and grabbed 10 boards. Adam Williams scored 10 and Kevin Smith pulled down eight rebounds. Ryan Vincent recorded four steals.

Kingsley pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Glen Lake 47-34 in Northwest Conference play.
Kingsley (16-1, 11-0) was up 31-30 entering the fourth quarter before finishing on a 16-4 run.
Autumn Goggin led the win with 13 points. Kenzie Meeker and Anne-Marie Sanchez scored 10 apiece. Meeker also contributed five rebounds and Sanchez five assists and four steals. Emily Fasel had a team-high six assists.
Taylor Martin paced Glen Lake (10-6, 7-3) with 16 points, 12 in the first half. She also had eight rebounds. Scotlyn Brengman collected 10 points and six rebounds.
Kingsley is at Benzie on Tuesday while Glen Lake travels to Leland.
Frankfort 36 Leland 27
Tami Banktson's 17 points and 10 rebounds led Frankfort to a 36-27 Northwest Conference win over Leland.
Freshman Brianna Miller chipped in nine points for the Panthers (6-9, 5-5) while Maggie Miller had six points and seven steals.
Tantzi Snyder paced the Comets with 11 points. Isabelle Scott added eight.
Frankfort is at Mesick on Tuesday.
Benzie Central 53 Suttons Bay 33
Benzie Central went on a third-quarter run for a 53-33 Northwest Conference win over Suttons Bay.
The Huskies led by seven at the half, but the Norse (3-12, 2-8 NWC) rolled back to make it 26-23 midway through the third. Benzie then closed out the game on a 27-10 run.
Jordan Nye led the way for Benzie with 20 points while Theresa Warsecke had 14 points — including nine in the third quarter.
Miranda Schaub had 11 points and eight rebounds for Suttons Bay, Jordan Smith had 18 rebound and Elsa Finch added 11 boards. The Norse will play back-to-back games with Buckley on Monday and Tuesday.
Buckley 56 Mesick 35
Buckley jumped out to a 17-6 lead and never looked back in a 56-35 Northwest Conference win over Mesick.
The Bears had 23 points from Bailee Kuhn, 17 points and six rebounds from Caelin Runyon, eight rebounds from Paige Gokey and Clairce Pahl while Montana Jayska had five rebounds and five steals.
Gabby Kline scored 11 points for the Bulldogs.
Johannesburg 52 Central Lake 38
Johannesburg-Lewiston kept rolling, beating Central Lake 52-38 in a Ski Valley contest.
Abby Schlicher's 15 points, five assists and five steals led the Cardinals (15-2, 12-2). Tiffany Nickert added 10 points and eight rebounds and Brittany Cherwinski eight points and five steals.
Lauren Rogers netted 16 points and Sheila Crouse 10 for Central Lake (7-10, 6-7). Jennifer Corbett and Maris Spaulding had seven rebounds.
The Cardinals are at Pellston on Tuesday while Central Lake is at Inland Lakes.
Gaylord St. Mary 48 Bellaire 29
Karli Jacob scored 17 points as Gaylord St. Mary beat Bellaire 48-29 in Ski Valley Conference action.
The Snowbirds (17-0, 14-0) also had 14 points from Kari Borowiak, as well as 10 points from Sarah Long.
For the Eagles (9-7), Mackenzie Ciganic had 11 points and four rebounds, Chelsye Bartsch had eight points and five steals while Mariah Cords had eight rebounds and five steals.
Gaylord St. Mary plays at Forest Area on Tuesday while Bellaire will take on Mancelona.
Onaway 73 Pellston 39
Onaway had three players in double digits for a 73-39 Ski Valley Conference win over Pellston.
The Cardinals (11-7) were led by Kallie Shimel with 21 points. Sam Freel scored 19 points and Molly Cleaver added 10 points.
Onaway jumped out to a 17-7 lead ad made it 36-19 at the half.
Forest Area 57 Mancelona 21
Forest Area's Emily Gonyer scored 17 points in a 57-21 Ski Valley Conference win over Mancelona.
Gonyer also had six steals for the Warriors (6-9). Marissa Ingersoll had 14 points and seven steals while Courtney Birgy had eight points and Lindsy Zook pulled down 11.
Jenna Davis had eight points for Mancelona.
