Rippers sneak past Beach Bums

London wins 2nd game of series on a sacrifice in the 8th

LONDON, Ontario — Stephen Cardullo came in on Ben Magsig's sacrifice hit in the eighth inning to propel London to a 4-3 victory Saturday over the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Sean Gusrang and Kyle Colligan each had three hits for the Bums (32-15).

Traverse City took an early 1-0 lead on a Chase Burch first-inning sacrifice fly that brought in Ryan Still, who walked. Kyle Eveland singled in Gusrang in the second and Jeff Flagg hit a two-out home run in the sixth.

All-Star pitcher Jacob Clem was solid for six innings, giving up three hits and four walks and striking out two. He was charged with three runs.

The Rippers scored the winning run off Scott Dunn (1-1). Nick Capito — who will be another of Traverse City's 10 players at Wednesday's All-Star game in Normal, Ill. — worked a perfect inning.

Jamie Richmond (5-2) got the win, going the distance for the Rippers.

The Beach Bums face the Rippers again this afternoon in their final contest before the All-Star break.

The league announced that Wednesday's All-Star game (6:30 p.m. CST) will be broadcast online at www.stlsportsproductions.com.
