Roundup: Bellaire, Ellsworth advance

BOYNE FALLS — Katie Thornton's 21 points and six rebounds led Bellaire to a 50-46 win over Central Lake in the Class D district here Wednesday.

Chelsye Bartsch added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Eagles (12-9). Jennifer Corbett scored 14 points for Central Lake.

Bellaire will play Ellsworth in Friday's final. The Lancers beat Boyne Falls 51-43 in the opener. Emily Veenstra's triple-double — 20 points, 18 rebounds and 10 blocks — led the way. It was her second triple-double in a week. Dana Neumann added 12 points and 16 rebounds. Emily Matelski had 23 for Boyne Falls.

Ellsworth beat Bellaire 36-33 during the regular season.

Buckley     61 Baldwin     22

Bailee Kuhn's 15 points sparked Buckley to a 61-22 Class D district win.

The Bears, who led 28-10 at half, will play McBain NMC for the championship Friday.

Hannah Baldinger added nine points and four assists for Buckley. Paige Gokey and Marlee Harris chipped in eight points. Gokey also had eight assists.

Grayling     52 Roscommon     34

Cierra Prosser tossed in 16 points as Grayling defeated Roscommon 52-34 in a Class B district game.

Hailey Whitaker added 11 points and four assists for the Vikings, who will play the Houghton Lake-Cheboygan winner in Friday's final.
