Beach Bums win in 12th

TRAVERSE CITY — Guess you could call that a wild-off.

With runners on first and third and none out, Lake Erie reliever Travis Risser unleashed a wild pitch to Chase Burch, allowing Kyle Colligan to trot home with the winning run in the 12th inning Friday for a 5-4 Beach Bums victory.

Colligan had led off the 12th with a double, followed by a Jose Vargas single.

Sean Gusrang started off TC's scoring with a solo home run to lead off the sixth.

Gusrang then singled in Jeff Flagg in the seventh, followed by a Kyle Eveland groundout that brought in Marcus Nidiffer.

Traverse City took a 4-3 lead in the eighth on a Flagg sacrifice fly that brought home Vargas, but the Crushers were able to send the game to extra innings with a run off Scott Mueller in the top of the ninth.

Brooks Belter went six innings, giving up no runs after the first. He surrendered seven hits and two walks, and struck out two. Nick Capito came on for two hitless innings of work, fanning three. Sam Brown came on to pitch the 11th and 12th frames, allowing two hits to earn the victory.
