TRAVERSE CITY — Freshman Katie Placek led Traverse City West to a 40-21 non-conference win over Manistee on Monday.
Placek finished with 17 points and 19 rebounds for the Titans (12-5). Shaina Streeter also had 14 points and six rebounds.
The Titans won the JV game 44-27 as Kimmy Bilinski had 11 points.
BOYS
Central Lake 70 Forest Area 64
Central Lake made free throws down the stretch for a 70-64 Ski Valley win over Forest Area.
The Trojans (8-6, 6-5 SVC) were 13-for-16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
Zach Harvey led the way for Central Lake with 26 points, including 10 of 13 free throws. Trevor Papineau had 16 points.
Forest Area trailed 36-23 at the half, but came back to take a 52-51 lead in the fourth quarter. Jermaine Nix led the way with 19 of his 26 points in the second half.
Bellaire 87 Onaway 31
All 11 players scored for Bellaire in an 87-31 Ski Valley win over Onaway.
The Eagles (13-0, 10-0 LMC) had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists from Kasey Poel, 12 points from Mitch Teetzel and Brandon Charbonneau and 10 from Tyler Thornton.
For Onaway, Andrew Perry had 11 points.
Glen Lake 54 Mesick 34
Glen Lake beat Mesick 54-34 in Northwest action.
The Lakers (8-5, 6-2 NWC) led 41-21 lead going into the fourth. Mike O'Brien led the way with 23 points and 14 rebounds. For Mesick, Jesse Hoffman had 10 points.
LL St. Mary's 58 GT Academy 39
Lake Leelanau St. Mary's posted a 58-39 Cherryland Conference win over Grand Traverse Academy.
The Eagles had 18 points from Nick Shaffran and 13 from Brandon McSawby.
Alex Houston scored 14 points and Cheppe Campos 13 for the Mustangs.
TC Christian 62 Northport 41
Traverse Ctiy Christian topped Northport, 62-41 in Cherryland action.
The Sabres (9-3, 4-0 CL) had 20 points from Paul Bump, 13 from Travis Hall and 12 from Ian Newberry. Bill Stowe scored 16 points for Northport (2-12).
Frankfort 79 Onekama 33
Frankfort beat Onekama, 79-33 in non-league play.
The Panthers (7-5) led 47-20 at the half. Brandon Miller had 24 points, Adam Plumstead 14, T.J. Darling 12 and Brandon Schaub 10.
