TROY — Each of five Traverse City representatives notched at least a point in the three-day NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.
Chris Leibinger had a goal and three assists and Kyle Schempp two helpers in three games for the U-18 Selects squad.
Sean Murphy scored two goals for the North Division team, while defenseman Zack Dorer and forward Will Badner each had an assist.
Cadillac native Brock Raffaele — who plays for Kalmazoo — had two goals and two assists for the North Division team.
The North Stars (22-16-5) return to the North Division playoff chase on Friday, hosting divisional foe Chicago at Centre ICE for a two-game series.

The 15-year-old had her sophomore track season at Indiana’s Eastbrook High School end early last week when she failed to qualify in the 3,200 for this Friday’s state high school finals. New hockey league aims for 14 teams
The Midwest Junior Hockey League that is slated to start up for the 2012-13 season is expected to have at least 14 teams. League commissioner Pat Pylypuik said Traverse City and Bloomington, Ind., are the first two confirmed cities for the newly-forming Tier III league.

TC takes home opener over Windy City
Light-hitting Traverse City outfielder Brian Heere hit the first home run of the season in Wuerfel Park, helping the Beach Bums to a home opener victory over Windy City. “I don’t think anybody would have bet on me getting the first one out,” Heere said. “It was a line drive and it just kept carrying.”

The longest-standing Bayshore record could be in jeopardy this morning. Jeff Sharp set the men’s marathon record of 2 hours, 17 minutes, 40 seconds in 1983. That time still stands. Among those taking aim at that mark today: Jesse Davis, who ran a 2:18:47 in the 2011 Houston Marathon.
