TRAVERSE CITY — Isn't thirteen supposed to be unlucky?
Not for the Traverse City Beach Bums, who will be sending a baker's dozen representatives to the Frontier League's All-Star Game in Normal next week.
The Beach Bums had nine players voted in Wednesday and manager Gregg Langbehn was chosen to lead the East Division squad by virtue of the Bums owning the division's best record.
On Thursday, Langbehn added reliever Nick Capito to the squad. The Beach Bums' left-hander has a 0.90 ERA in 16 appearances as a set-up man.
Traverse City coaches Shannon Hunt and Matt Pulley will complete Langbehn's staff for the game, bringing Traverse City's All-Star contingent to 13.
The game will take place at The Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois, home of the Normal CornBelters. The Fan Fest and Home Run Derby will take place Tuesday, followed by the game at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday. Both nights will feature post-event fireworks.
