M-22 Challenge registration starts
TRAVERSE CITY — Registration for the M-22 Challenge opens online today at 8 a.m. at www.m22challenge.com.
The Challenge — a bike, run and paddle competition — will be June 8, starting at 8 a.m. There are 900 spots available. The basic course layout will remain the same with only minor modifications.
Lipp wins pair of Nordic races
TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Central’s Erin Lipp won a pair of Nordic ski races over the weekend.
Lipp won the Cross Country Ski Headquarter’s Muffin Pursuit race on Sunday. She had the fastest girls classic and skate legs with a total time of 26:39. Lansing’s Sarah Goble and Williamsburg’s Heidi Schwab were second and third in 29:58 and 31:24.
On Saturday in the 7K Boyne Grinder freestyle that goes up Boyne Mountain, Lipp came in first (20:24) with Hannah Davis and Schwab following (22:15 and 22:59).
In the boys’ races, Central’s Andrew Bruning had the fastest legs in the pursuit, finishing in 25:04. Interlochen’s Ian Durand came in at 25:55 and Clay Darling at 26:03.
Durand won the Boyne Grinder in 18:28. He was followed by TC West’s Sean Brownell (18:41) and Darling (19:02).
