Bulldogs advance to state finals

The TC Lady Bulldogs earned their way to compete for another Michigan homeschool state basketball championship by extending their undefeated season by two more victories.

This is the 10th finals appearance for the girls basketball program since its inception in 1996.

The Bulldogs (14-0) jumped out to a 38-0 halftime lead over F.A.I.T.H.-Lapeer in the first round game, coasting to a 53-13 win. For TC, Mary Raetz had 20 points, and five steals, Kasey Acton added 11 points, Rachel Gordon chipped in 10 points, and Rachel Crosby poured in 15 rebounds, five steals, four assists and four blocks.

In the second round, TC went cold from the field shooting 31 percent for the game, but Acton took control in the 4th quarter and sealed the win by knocking down all of her shots from the floor and free throw line in the final stanza as the Bulldogs won 44-34. Acton scored 16 and collected 10 steals, while freshman Kelsey Acton netted 12 points, Crosby grabbed 10 rebounds and added four steals and three blocks.

TC plays CHAP-Lansing next Saturday in Carson City for the state championship. TC won 4 straight titles until losing to Clinton County last year.
