'Soup-er Bowl' set for Sunday

TRAVERSE CITY -- The second annual "Soup-er Bowl, Women and Snow" event will be held Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Timber Ridge Resort.

Participants can cross country ski or snowshoe. Those planning to attend should bring a dish to pass, soup or snack and beverage of their choice. Donations of canned food are being accepted for the Father Fred food pantry.

The cost is $7 for a trail pass, free to Timber Ridge season passholders. Equipment rentals are available by calling 947-2770.

TCJGA offers online sign-up

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Junior Golf Association (TCJGA) is offering an online sign-up for its spring and summer junior golf activities.

The sign-up started this month. Junior golf lessons and tournaments will be available for sign-up on a first-come, first-served basis.

The association has been providing junior golf lesson and tournament activities for 27 years.

Families of boys and girls ages 5 years and older are invited to sign-up on-line. More information is available at www.tcjga.com or by calling the TCJGA at 935-GOLF or email, golf@tcjga.com.

Blizzard tourney slated for Saturday

TRAVERSE CITY -- The YMCA "Blizzard" basketball team tournament will be held Saturday at Traverse City area gyms.

The tournament is for boys in grades 7 and 8. There will be two separate divisions. Each team is guaranteed three games.

The full-court games will have two 20-minute halves. Teams must have matching shirts with numbers.

Each player must have a parent/guardian signature, and assume all risk while participating. Game times, rules will be available Friday.

Snow cross event at Turtle Creek

WILLIAMSBURG -- A snow cross event will be held at Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The event will be part of the Michigan Snow X Series.

Gates will open at 8 a.m. with racing beginning at 9:30 and lasting until late afternoon. Tickets will be available at the gate. Admission is $10 per person. Children six and under will be admitted free of charge.
