JOHANNESBURG — Brandon Dingman knocked down three free throws in overtime to lead Mancelona to a 66-64 overtime Ski Valley Conference boys basketball victory Thursday over Johannesburg-Lewiston to keep the Ironmen undefeated in league play.
And that's not all Dingman did.
Partially on the strength of 11-for-15 shooting from the charity stripe, he scored 41 points and added 13 rebounds.
Logan Borst chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Ironmen (7-2, 6-0 SVC), who host Inland Lakes on Tuesday before traveling Friday to Bellaire for a matchup of the Ski Valley's two top teams.
Logan Huff scored 18 to lead Joburg, while Jacob Newell and Cameron Nickert each had 16.
BOYS HOOPS
Bellaire 75 Onaway 30
Bellaire scored more points by halftime than Onaway would end up with for the whole game in a 75-30 Ski Valley Conference win.
The Eagles (7-0, 5-0 SVC) were up 48-19 at halftime.
Mitch Teetzel had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Tyler Thornton scored 21 points and Drew Bailey added 13 points for Bellaire, which hosts Mancelona next Friday.
Joe O'Bradovich and Jason Sigsby led Onaway with nine points each.
Inland Lakes 46 Gaylord St. Mary 45
Inland Lakes pulled out a close 46-45 Ski Valley Conference victory over Gaylord St. Mary.
Dakota Davedowski led the Bulldogs with 22 points.
Kingsley 59 Leland 50
No Kingsley player hit double digits, but the Stags were still able to pull out a 59-50 Northwest Conference victory over an injury-depleted Leland squad.
Austin Olson and Tyler Case had nine points each for Kingsley.
Ian Duvall had 19 and Tyler Leveque 18 for Leland, which was without injured standouts A.J. Whittaker and Dylan Jolliffe.
The Comets (3-4, 2-3 NWC) travel Thursday to Suttons Bay.
Frankfort 71 Suttons Bay 63
David Loney had a double-double to lead No. 7-ranked Frankfort to a 71-63 win over Suttons Bay to set up a showdown of undefeated Northwest Conference team next week.
Loney had 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Brandon Schaub had 18 points and Owen Stratton 17.
The Panthers (8-0, 5-0 NWC) host Glen Lake (9-1, 5-0) on Thursday, with a date with Manistee Catholic in between Monday.
Logan Mikesell led Suttons Bay with 17 points and Aaron Orban had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Norsemen (2-5).
Glen Lake 74 Mesick 45
Glen Lake led 25-8 after one quarter en route to a 74-45 Northwest Conference victory over Mesick.
Carter Lee and Mike O'Brien each had 19 points for the Lakers, whole Logan LaCross and Curtis Bunek had 10 apiece.
Andre Whittaker led Mesick with 18 points.
Benzie Central 69 Buckley 42
Javier Rodriguez scored 17 points to lead Benzie Central to a 69-42 Northwest Conference win over Buckley.
Ismail Halaweh scored 14 and Nate Oren 10 for the Huskies.
Austin Burmania had 13 points for Buckley, while Luke Somsel scored 11.
Benzie (3-5) travels Monday to Manistee.
Wolverine 58 Burt Lake NMCA 52
Wolverine topped Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy 58-52 in a non-conference game.
Aaron Chatfield had 31 points, five steals and five rebounds, while Jake Lovitt added 12 points and Robert Taylor chipped in five points and 10 rebounds.
The Eagles (3-4) host Northport today.
GIRLS HOOPS
Leland 52 Northport 23
Libby Munoz led Leland to a 52-23 victory over Northport.
Munoz racked up 16 points, seven rebounds and six steals for the Comets, while Felicia Whittaker had nine points, Maggie Osorio eight points and Whitney Schaub six points and six assists.
Autumn Huck led Northport with nine points and Mariah Kalchik grabbed seven rebounds.
Leland (4-7) travels Thursday to Suttons Bay.
Manistee Catholic 68 Baldwin 13
Megan Miller scored more points herself than Baldwin for the entire game in Manistee Catholic Central's 68-13 rout of Baldwin.
Miller had 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Haley Doyle notched 13 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists and Alysha Heck contributed 15 points, six steals and four assists.
Manistee CC led 37-5 at halftime.
McBain 60 Marion 26
Kara Hughston led McBain to a 60-26 victory over Marion while Meredith Hamlet fell just short of a triple-double.
Hughston had 17 points and eight steals. Hamlet racked up 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals and freshman Asia Lagrow pace pitched in eight points and four rebounds.
Chloe Johnson led Marion with eight points.
McBain (5-4) hosts Beal City on Tuesday.
McBain NMC 56 Manton 37
The Northern Michigan Christian girls won their third game in a row, pulling away from visiting Manton in the third quarter and posting a 56-37 victory in Highland Conference play.
Junior guard Adri Sigafoose scored 14 of her game-high 18 points on breakaways as the Comets (7-4, 3-3) used their speed in the transition to create points.
Kylie Lanser scored 13 and Sydney Dick hit for 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Sophomore Karrah Baker tallied 12 for the Rangers (4-7, 2-4), while Jurrica Stanley and Brittany Brauer each scored six.
WRESTLING
Manton splits matches at Forest Area
Pine River posted a 2-0 record and Manton was 1-1 in a tri meet at Forest Area.
For Forest Area, Matt Elliott (125 pounds) and Tyler Leffingwell (130) were each 2-0. Elliott had two pins and Leffingwell one.
Landon Elliott (112), Dion Burke (160), Chris Schelske (152) and Reese Velfling (285) each were 1-1, with Burke and Schelske winning by fall.
