THOMPSONVILLE — Glen Lake's girls captured a Division 2 regional title on Thursday at Crystal Mountain.
The Lakers won with 105.5 points. Cadillac was second with 107.5 while Grand Rapids Northview was third with 118. The state finals are Feb. 25 in Marquette.
In the giant slalom, Glen Lake won with 51 points. Amanda Lodge was ninth with 44.29 points, Katie Pershinske was 10th (44.37), Madison Fink was 13th (44.56) and Emma Velis was 19th (45.44). Fink was fourth in the GS (1:03.76), Lodge was 13th (1:05.92), Dani Merwin was 17th (1:06.85) and Pershinske was 20th (1:09.42).
Cadillac won the slalom with 52.5 points behind Emily Orcutt taking sixth (1:04.06), Marissa VanAlst was 14th (1:06.06), Gabrielle Sake was 15th (1:06.14) and Sarah Mitchell was 17th (1:06.85). In the GS, Abigale Divozzo was eighth (44.17), VanAlst was 11th (44.48), Rachel Johnson was 16th (44.83) and Mitchell was 20th (45.74).
Benzie Central was fourth as a team. Morgan Papineau was second in the slalom (1:01.82) while Aria Grabowski was eighth (1:04.93), Tyler Kistler was 31st (1:14.21) and Melanie Kinnan was 32nd (1:14.81). Papineau was sixth in the GS (43.62), Grabowski was seventh (43.77), Kistler was 27th (48.51) and Kinnan was 30th (49.12).
In the boys race, Cadillac won the regional off a tie-breaker against Clare. Both finished with 62 points. Glen Lake also qualified with 106 points.
Keenan Cooper won the GS for the Vikings in 42.15 seconds. Nate Houk was second (42.64), Alex Best was 16th (45.71) and Tyler Neiss was 17th (45.76). Cooper was second in the slalom (52.60), Houk was third (54.79), Best was 10th (59.6) and Adam Pertunen was 11th (1:00.87).
Glen Lake's Thomas Waning was third in the GS (42.98), Pete Kerby-Miller was 10th (45.02), Ian Hood was 13th (45.32) and Evan Fink was 20th (46.42). In the slalom, Kerby-Miller was sixth (57.18), Fink was 13th (1:01.37), Hood was 16th (1:02.21) and Waning was 25th (1:04.75).
Benzie Central was fourth as a team. David Cunningham won the slalom in 52.35, Matt Knapp was 21st (1:04.01), Casey McKinley was 23rd (1:04.63) and Galen Shireman-Grabowski was 24th (1:04.64). In the GS, Cunningham was fourth (43.64), McKinley was 15th (45.66), Knapp was 33rd (48.32) and Shireman-Grabowski was 38th (48.87).
