Norse to play Friday

Suttons Bay hosts Iron Mountain

SUTTONS BAY — Suttons Bay will host Iron Mountain at 7 p.m. Friday night in a Division 6 football regional game.

The Norsemen are 11-0, Iron Mountain 10-1.

Iron Mountain won its district by beating Negaunee 21-6. Negaunee knocked out Elk Rapids in a pre-district.

Suttons Bay advanced with a 42-6 district win over Farwell.

The Norsemen watched film of Iron Mountain on Monday.

"Big, strong, physical," Suttons Bay coach Joe Trudeau said, sizing up the Mountaineers. "They have the best line, by far, that we've seen this year. We'll have our work cut out for us."

Iron Mountain's lone loss came in the season-opener when the Mountaineers fell to Ishpeming, which is undefeated and in the Division 7 regionals.

"And Iron Mountain led that game 20-6 with four minutes to go," Trudeau said.

This will be Suttons Bay's third consecutive playoff game at home.

"This is very cool for our kids," Trudeau said.

In Division 3, Cadillac will play at Mount Pleasant at 1 p.m. Saturday.

In Division 7, McBain travels to Ishpeming for a 1 p.m. game.
