TRAVERSE CITY — It's all even with four games to go.

Kevin Reese pitched seven solid innings and Matt Brown and J.T. Hall drove in two runs apiece Wednesday as the Traverse City Beach Bums beat Windy City 8-4 at Wuerfel Park.

The Beach Bums are now 52-40 and in a tie with Oakland for the wildcard spot in the Frontier League's East Division. Oakland swept Kalamazoo on Wednesday. Both teams trail division-leading Windy City by two games as the race heads to an entertaining weekend finish. Traverse City holds the tiebreaker with Oakland by virtue of winning their season series.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, the Beach Bums erupted for six runs to take control Wednesday. Jason Codiroli's RBI single tied it, then Chase Burch delivered a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to give the Beach Bums the lead. Hall came through with a two-run single to make it 4-1. Two more runs crossed the plate on errors.

After the ThunderBolts closed to within 6-3, Brown smacked a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to expand Traverse City's cushion.

Reese (10-9) allowed just two earned runs in his stint. Richard Barrett (7-3) suffered the loss. Brown led Traverse City's 12-hit attack with three hits. Hall, Brad Miller and Andrew Franco added two hits apiece.

The teams wrap up their series tonight with Jonny Bravo (5-2) pitching for the Beach Bums and Sean Toler (7-1) for Windy City.
