Roller derby bouts slated for Aug. 18

TRAVERSE CITY — A pair of Traverse City roller derby bouts are set for Aug. 18 at the Civic Center.

The Traverse City Toxic Cherries will face off against the Floral City Roller Girls and the Traverse City Cherry Bombs will square off the Bath City Roller Girls in their fourth and final double header of their home season.

Tickets are on sale now at Ben Franklin and Lifer Skate Shop in Traverse City, Cornell's Crossing in Kalkaska and from derby girls. Tickets are also available online at BrownPaperTickets.com.

Doors open at 5 p.m., the first bout of the doubleheader starts at 6 p.m. The second bout will start around 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door (if available). Kids 5 and under are free with "kids tickets" available at all outlets. Tickets are cash only, with exception to online sales.

The Small Town Outlaws — a team made up of skaters from Kalkaska and the surrounding area — host the Kingsford Krush on Aug. 25 at the Kaliseum. The bout starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 and are also available online at BrownPaperTickets.com.
