UPDATE: Climax-Scotts 21, Gaylord St. Mary 20 at the half

REED CITY — A change in defensive strategy has Gaylord St. Mary within one point of Climax-Scotts at halftime of a Class D girls basketball state quarterfinal. The Panthers lead 21-20.

Climax-Scotts led 19-10 at one point in the first half before the Snowbirds switched to a 1-3-1 defense. The change sparked Gaylord St. Mary to a 10-2 run to close the gap.

Mary Spyhalski leads Gaylord St. Mary with eight points, while Bekah Myler came off the bench to score five points in the second quarter.
