TRAVERSE CITY — Three days, three schools, three offers.
Jake Fisher has been in high demand the last few days.
The Traverse City West senior lineman returned home on Tuesday after visiting Michigan State, Cincinnati and the University of Michigan — and came away with scholarship offers from all three.
"It's pretty crazy," Fisher said of the experience. "It's a dream. Now I'll put my thought process into it and try to pick a school."
"It was a great three days," Titans coach Tim Wooer said. "I just looked at my odometer, and it said 1,200 miles. It was fun. How could you go wrong with those three schools?"
Fisher — a 6-foot-7, 268-pound lineman — already had an offer from Central Michigan University and several other Mid-American Conference schools. That was before attending camps at MSU, Cincinnati and U-M.
"It's going to be a tough decision for Jake now, no doubt about it," Wooer said.
Wooer said Fisher was told at the Michigan State and Michigan camps that he was the best athlete on the field.
The Spartans were the first to offer Fisher on Saturday. Next was Butch Jones at Cincinnati on Sunday and finally Rich Rodriguez at Michigan on Monday.
"We rolled into Michigan, I turned around and looked and there's coach Rodriguez in a golf cart," Wooer said. "We hopped in and coach gave us a grand tour. They rolled out the red carpet for us."
Fisher plays tight end for TC West last year, but has grown from 6-4 to 6-7 and gained more than 60 pounds. He'll return to the end position for his senior year of high school, but will move to tackle at college.
He's also worked hard at his speed, going from a 5.25-second 40-yard-dash time to running a 4.95 at Michigan's camp.
"Jake worked hard on his speed training," Wooer said. "I told the kids the proof is in the pudding. Here's a kid that went from playing at a MAC school in front of 20,000 to playing in front of 100,000 because of his efforts in the weight room."
Fisher said he'll most likely pick between Michigan, Michigan State and Cincinnati.
He said the dream of playing football at a major university is just starting to hit him as a reallity.
"It's finally starting to set in," Fisher said. "It was at Michigan, I met some of the players. That pretty much did it."
When Fisher makes his decision, he will join several TC West standouts already playing at Division 1 schools. Eric Gordon is a senior linebacker at Michigan State while linemen Rocko Khoury and and Darren Keyton are at Michigan and Central Michigan, respectively.
"I'm happy for (Jake), and I'm proud of him, but I'm proud of all our kids," Wooer said. "Brett Kenny went to camp at Toledo. Morgan Tolle is on the cusp of the MAC schools. And Josh Balesh has some MAC schools looking at him."
