TRAVERSE CITY — The Bay Reps scored twice in the second period Saturday to blow open a hockey game with the Tri-Valley Titans at Centre ICE.
The Reps won 4-2.
Zach Hill and Nate Wilson each struck in the second. Hill's goal was a power-play score off a Trevor Apsey assists, while Wilson's was set up by Zack Bargy.
Nick Sicinski had scored in the first period off Wilson and Bargy assists, and Hill added another goal in the third off Josh Hill and Apsey helpers.
"Zach Hill stands out pretty much every night," Reps coach Todd Spaulding said. "Game in and game out, it's outstanding to watch an athlete put in that much hard work."
Jay Jones made 14 saves for the Reps, who held a commanding 34-16 advantage in shots on goal.
The Reps (2-5) are off until playing in Traverse City Central's Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27. The Reps hook up with the hosts in the opening round at 8:30 p.m. at Centre ICE.
BOYS HOOPS
TC St. Francis beats Brother Rice
Byron Bullough racked up 23 points and five steals to lead Traverse City St. Francis to a 64-53 victory over Birmingham Brother Rice.
Kody Kleinrichert added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Gladiators (4-0), who travel Tuesday to Boyne City.
Brother Rice won the JV game 62-42.
WRESTLING
TC West 8th of 16 at Northview
Traverse City West freshman Vincent Priante kept his record perfect with a 4-0 mark at the Grand Rapids Northview Invitational.
The Titans finished eighth out of 16 in the team tournament.
Priante is 9-0 this season at 103 pounds.
West's Jonah Jasman went 4-1 at 119 pounds to improve to 8-2 on the year.
Three-match winners for the Titans included Ryan Drake (189), James Peck (189), Zack Provost (145), Sean Clark (140) and Josh Wheaton (171), while Caleb Harris (112), Brad Squires (112), Tyler Post (119), Mike Lambert (13), Claeb Kase (135) and Brandon Barth (171/189) each had two victories.
The Titans return to action Wednesday with a tri match at Benzie Central.
BOWLING
West posts GNBC win over Central
High scores led the way at the fifth meet on Saturday for the Great Northwest Bowling Conference.
Leading the charge was Traverse City West's Sawyer Robinson with a two-game series of 494 (212, 277), and Kellor Flees rolled a 199 game in the Titans' 30-0 win over TC Central Gold.
TC Christian Maroon anchor Jon Tuck shot a 478 series with games of 246 and 232. The Sabres also blanked Elk Rapids Black 30-0.
TC West Gold beat TC St. Francis 22-8. The Glads were led by Leah Schmerheim's 404 two-game series in the loss, while Matt Ohlendorf's 189 was high for the Titan's.
Benzie downed Glen Lake 28-2. Brayden Reed from Glen Lake both teams with a 215 game.
Elk Rapids Orange beat TC Christian White 28-2. The Elks were led by Kirk May's 357 two game series.
Bellaire beat Kingsley 28-2. Nick Betten's 382 series led The Eagles while Matt Dodson's 372 led Kingsley.
TC Central Black beat TC Prep 26-4. Trojan Brad Wozniak led both teams with a 391 two-game series.
For the girls, Bellaire's Destiny Zoulek shot a 220 game in their 30-0 win over Benzie Central.
Brianne Palmer led Glen Lake over Kingsley (26-4) with a 195 game. Courtney Sladek led the Stags with a 212 game in the loss. TC West Green beat TC Central 20-10.
