That's the way to end a road trip.
The Traverse City Beach Bums scored seven runs in the final three innings to beat Gateway 12-6 Sunday in the finale of the three-game series.
The Beach Bums won Saturday night 5-2. They are 9-6 heading into Tuesday's contest with Rockford at Wuerfel Park.
Chase Burch carried the big stick Sunday with three hits and five RBIs. He belted a three-run homer in the ninth. His five RBIs tied a career high.
The Beach Bums pounded out 15 hits. Sean Gusrang also had three hits in the win. Brian Heere, Jeff Flagg and Chris Kay added two apiece.
Traverse City trailed 5-4 after five innings. The Beach Bums tied it with a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Burch. They took the lead for good with three in the seventh on just one hit. After two walks and single loaded the bases, Kyle Eveland walked to bring in the go-ahead run. Heere followed with a deep fly to center that scored the second run. Then Ryan Still dropped down a sacrifice bunt to bring in the eighth run.
Traverse City added four more in the ninth, three on Burch's blast. That was one of three homers hit by the Beach Bums. Gusrang smacked a solo homer in the second and Flagg went deep for his league-leading eighth of the season in the third.
Nick Capito (2-0) earned the win in relief. David Deminsky started, but lasted just 2 2/3 innings, surrendering five runs. Matt Miller, Capito, Sam Brown and Scott Mueller settled things down in relief. They combined to give up one run on just three hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.
On Saturday night, Reid Kelly pitched six strong innings to improve to 3-0. Kyle Colligan led the attack with three hits. Kay and Flagg homered in the game.
Burch drives in five runs in 12-6 win
