Honor Roll listings start this week

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Record-Eagle will begin its Honor Roll track listings this week.

The boys listings will run Thursday, the girls Saturday. Entries for the boys listings should be submitted no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday, girls listings by 4 p.m. Friday. Entries can be faxed to 946-8632 or e-mailed to dchase@record-eagle.com.

M-22 Challenge set for June 20

TRAVERSE CITY -- Registration is underway for the inaugural M-22 Challenge on June 20.

Early registration ends June 18.

The M-22 Challenge is a multi-discipline event in Leelanau County designed to challenge athletes against the natural terrain and environmental elements of the area.

It begins with a 16 mile bike race around Big and Little Glen Lakes. Participants will then transition to a paddle event. The event concludes with a two-mile run that includes a Sleeping Bear Dunes climb overlooking the area.

Participants must register online at www.m22challenge.com to compete. Course maps and details are also available on the Web site. Event check-in is between 5-10 p.m. June 19 at Glen Arbor Township Hall. Late registration will take place during check-in.

Wolves looking to fill positions

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Wolves are hiring game day personnel for their inaugural season in the North American Football League.

The team has five home games on Saturdays in July, August and September. All games will be played at Traverse City Central High School. Positions currently available include: referees, merchandising, guest services, ticket takers, security, public address announcer, music operator, scoreboard operator, chain gang, videographer and maintenance crew.

The team is also seeking a team doctor, EMS services and advertising salespeople.

Free boating class tonight

TRAVERSE CITY -- Grand Bay Marine and the power squadron are sponsoring three free boating classes.

The first one, an anchoring seminar, is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Grand Bay Marine on US 31 South.

The other two classes -- on digital selective calling and boat handling -- will be from 6-8 p.m. on May 5 and May 12.

In addition, an ABC boating course will be held on three successive Saturdays in May (May 16, 23 and 30). It's a two-week course with a third optional for charting. The cost is $50 and includes a CD and book.

Those 12 to 16 years of age can take the course to qualify for a Michigan Operators certificate.
