LANSING — A new poll shows former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra with a healthy lead over his rivals in the Republican race to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
The phone poll of 500 registered voters likely to participate in the state's Feb. 28 GOP primary showed 50 percent support Hoekstra, 5 percent support charter schools executive Clark Durant and 2 percent support former Kent County Judge Randy Hekman.
No other candidate got 1 percent. Thirty-eight percent were undecided. The GOP primary will take place Aug. 7.
