DRUMMOND ISLAND (AP) -- Federal officials say the ice bridge at Drummond Island is closing for the season.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection operates a reporting station that allows snowmobilers to legally cross between the U.S. and Canada during the winter. The station was scheduled to close on Sunday.
Officials say warmer temperatures in the last few weeks have made ice conditions unfavorable and unsafe for travel. Drummond Island is located on the northeast end of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
