When Mark Kohler of Northport saw the photo and obituary for Shirley Tann recently, memories came flooding back to him. The Tanns lived next door to Mark and his family in the mid-1960s when Mark was 6 years old. Mark would often play with Shirley's son, Sam, age 7, and he remembers Shirley's kindness. He also recalls a day that easily could have been his last.
