Northern Notes: Younger generation steps us

When Owen Mueller read a postcard that announced there was a donor who would match funds received through Feb. 28 (Owen's 8th birthday) for the Father Fred Frostbite Food Drive, he knew exactly what kind of birthday party he wanted. In a similar gesture of generosity, about 30 students from five different youth groups collected more than 2,200 pounds of food for Leelanau Christian Neighbors' food pantries during the Father Fred Frostbite Food Drive. In another example of the thoughtfulness of the younger generation, Shaelyn Bunner organized a fund-raising project she named "Caring Cupcakes."
