Frequently asked questions about Record-Eagle.com and digital subscriptions

The Record-Eagle offers two types of digital subscriptions. Read the questions and answers below to find out which is best for you.

Or, if you choose not to subscribe, you will also find information below about what you can and cannot view on Record-Eagle.com without a subscription.

What is a digital subscription?

A digital subscription allows unlimited access to all of the Record-Eagle's online content. All visitors are able to view 12 premium* articles FREE during any 30-day period (*see "What do I get with and without a digital subscription?" below). If you exceed that limit, you'll be asked to purchase a digital subscription to continue enjoying the Record-Eagle online. For more information on the changes to Record-Eagle.com, please read the letter from our publisher. The Record-Eagle has two choices for digital subscribers: The e-Edition or Record-Eagle+

What do I get with and without a subscription?

Both subscriptions will allow you complete access to all of our online offerings, but in different formats. The e-Edition is an exact online replica of our print product, while Record-Eagle+ is for readers who prefer their news in our website format.

How do I subscribe?

To subscribe to Record-Eagle+ and recieve unlimited access to Record-Eagle.com, follow the prompts on the Press+ pop-up messages you receive while viewing our website, or go to Record-Eagle.com/subscribe and click the button for Record-Eagle+.

If you prefer to read the paper online exactly as it appears in print, subscribe to our e-Edition by visiting Record-Eagle.com/subscribe and click the e-Edition button.

How do I login to my digital subscription and access my account settings?

Record-Eagle + subscribers can use the blue Sign In button near the Record-Eagle+ logo on our homepage.  To access account settings, sign in at mypressplus.com.

e-Edition subscribers can use the Subscriber Login link below the e-Edition logo on our homepage.  Once signed in, hover your mouse over the My Services button (top right) and click My Account.

How will I know if I've exceeded my 12 free articles?

You will receive a pop-up welcome message after you click your fourth article during each 30-day period. After your 8th article, you'll receive a warning message. When you click on your 13th article, a pop-up will ask you to subscribe and will redirect you to our homepage if you do not, preventing you from reading further stories until your free articles begin again at the next 30-day period.

What about viewing Record-Eagle articles on my mobile device? Do I need a subscription for that?

No, not at this time. The mobile-optimized version of Record-Eagle.com and our mobile apps do not currently limit the number of articles you can view, although they will in the future. e-Edition subscribers can enjoy our replica edition on their mobile devices or tablets by bookmarking Record-Eagle.com/e-edition-mobile.

If I view an article that is only a shortened summary, will it count in my 12 free articles?

We are working to switch all of our shortened articles published Jan. 11, 2011 to Jan. 24, 2012 with full versions, but this will unfortunately take some time. If you do come across a shortened story, it will be counted in your 12 articles; however, we will gladly e-mail you the complete story. Please e-mail the headline of the story you wish to read to webmaster@record-eagle.com. We thank you for your patience during the switchover period.

If I view the same story multiple times, will it count more than once in my 12 free articles?

No, not when you view the story within the same section at the exact same web address. However, please be aware that some of our stories appear in multiple sections. For example, a story about the TC West basketball team will appear in both the top-level Sports section and the sub-level Prep Sports section. If you first view the story in our Sports section (at the web address www.record-eagle.com/sports), you can view that story in that section as many times as you wish and it will only count once toward your 15 free articles. However, if you also click that story in the Prep Sports section (at the web address record-eagle.com/prep), it will count as a second article in your 12 free per month.

If I have multiple computers, do I need to purchase multiple digital subscriptions?

No. You will be provided a username and password to access Record-Eagle.com our e-Edition at your residence, at work, on the go, at a library, wherever. It is this ease of access that allows our customers to obtain news and information instantly, anywhere.

If I already subscribe for home delivery, do I receive a discount to my digital subscription?

Yes. Customers who already subscribe to the Record-Eagle print edition will receive a significant discount to their online subscription. You may choose either an e-Edition or a Record-Eagle+ subscription for only 50 cents per month (or a yearly fee of $6).

If I already have an e-Edition subscription, do I need Record-Eagle+?

e-Edition subscribers do not need a Record-Eagle+ subscription. The e-Edition is our most comprehensive digital subscription option, as it includes everything we publish in print with access to everything we post online only (see What do I get with and without a subscription? above).

Can I switch my subscription from the e-Edition to Record-Eagle+ or vice versa?

Yes. Complete the online sign-up for the digital subscription you wish to switch to, then e-mail subscriptions@record-eagle.com to cancel your existing digital subscription. See our cancellation policy below.

How do I cancel and what is the cancellation and refund policy?

You may cancel your digital subscription at any time by e-mailing subscriptions@record-eagle.com. When you cancel, your account will not be charged the following billing cycle. Each billing cycle is 30 days, starting with the day of purchase. Your Record-Eagle+ or e-Edition subscription will continue for the remainder of the current 30-day period. Former e-Edition subscribers will still be able to use their e-Edition account to purchase per-day access to our replica edition should they choose.
