TRAVERSE CITY — John and Dorothy Beers of Traverse City observed their 65th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012. They were guests of honor at a family celebration Nov. 16 and 17, 2012.
The couple were high school sweethearts at Dearborn High School and were married on Nov. 22, 1947.
Mr. Beers was a glassblower at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village and at Ford Motor Company. Mrs. Beers was an administrative assistant for Detroit Area Public Schools. They both are retired. The couple lived in Dearborn until moving to Traverse City 20 years ago.
The couple raised seven children, John and Rory Beers, Sue and Tom Jaquette, Patricia and Russ Gregory, Claudia and Paul Feeny, Jeff Beers, Jay and Tracy Beers, and Kris and Jennifer Beers. They also helped raise 18 grandchildren, and are enjoying their five great-grandchildren.
