traverse city — The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Celebration returns Jan. 25 to the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme.
The format will change from past events, with sit-down dinner tables being replaced by open-floor seating so guests can interact with each other throughout the evening.
One highlight that continues is the presentation of the chamber's annual Distinguished Service Award.
The Chamber also will highlight numerous bright spots for the business community in 2012 and unveil several "surprises" for 2013.
The Annual Celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Resort's Governor's Hall.
Admission is $95 for Chamber members registered by Jan. 15, and $100 after.
Non-members' cost is $150.

Traverse City — The International Association of Administrative Professionals' chapter meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.
The group will meet in classroom A and B at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave. Dawn Gilbert will give a presentation on scheduling and tracking.

PETOSKEY — The Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a Hawaiian-themed Business After Hours on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Park Grill.
Attendees are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and leis.
Hors d'oeuvres, cash-bar refreshments and door prizes will be featured.

PETOSKEY — An Experience Vistage: Key Executive Group Meeting will be held at the Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center Thursday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
This is an inaugural member meeting for a group that includes small business owners as well as vice presidents and other leadership personnel who play a role in their companies' daily operations and hiring.
James "Jay" Hawreluk, author of "Unraveling the Mystery of People," is the keynote speaker.
During the interactive seminar, Hawreluk will discuss how people are innately hard wired and how that influences behavior.
Attendees also will gain an understanding of the ways in which individuals embrace ideas, react to pressure and communicate and effectively exchange information.
Vistage's Key Executive Program empowers members to become stronger leaders and assets to their CEOs and teams.

Peer Learning Circle
TRAVERSE CITY — NorthSky is launching a Peer Learning Circle for Executive Directors.
The six-month leadership program is designed to provide practical training in leadership development for executive directors who have at least one year of experience in that capacity. Limited to 10 participants, it includes mini lectures, interactive exercises, assessment and goal-setting. Participants also receive two coaching sessions and have access to three other NorthSky workshops at no additional charge.
Each monthly session runs from 9 a.m. to noon on the fourth Friday of the month starting Jan. 18 and continuing until June 28. The leader will be Certified Executive Coach Lucille M. Crisman.
Program fee is $390. Partial scholarship support is available.

charlevoix — The Charlevoix Chamber will host a photo contest through the month of January. To enter, submit your high resolution photo electronically via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "photo contest." Include your name, phone number and the title of the photograph.
Photos must be taken within Charlevoix County with an emphasis on the city of Charlevoix and surrounding area. The Chamber staff will pick the top 25 photos, which will then be posted to the Chamber Facebook page for voting.
The top five photos will be printed on postcards and available for sale in the Chamber office with the photographers' photo credits. The winners will also receive a one-night, off-season stay at the Weathervane Inn and Suites. When photos are submitted, all rights will be released to the Chamber for printing and reproduction.
