TRAVERSE CITY -- On Saturday, Traverse City West will get to see the best the state has to offer.
The Titans prepped for the meet by running their Coastal Conference record to 3-0 with wins over TC Central (122-57) and Muskegon Catholic Central (112-57) on Thursday.
On Saturday, West will compete in the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association meet at Eastern Michigan University on Saturday. Swimmers and divers must qualify for the meet and the Titans will be sending eight girls to compete in three relays and nine individual events.
Against Central and Muskegon Catholic, TC West (3-2, 3-0 Coastal Conference) swept the three relays.
Erin Holstad, Shelby Newhouse, Elly Maleski and Sarah Brunner won the 200 medley relay (1:59.2). Paige Rogers, Maleski, Holstad and Kate Reed won the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.82) with Rogers, Reed, Newhouse and Kirsten Palmer capturing the 400 (4:10.53).
Holstad added two double-dual wins in the 50 freestyle (26.67) as did Kendall Cox in diving (162.15 points), Maleski in the 100 butterfly (1:04.25), Megan Cepela in the 100 freestyle (1:02.7), Megan Younker in the 100 backstroke (1:13.15) and Brunner in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.55).
Paige Keith added victories in the 200 freestyle (2:19.07) and 500 freestyle (6:20.81) against Muskegon Catholic. Younker won the 200 individual medley (2:43.63) against TC Central.
In the other dual meet, TC Central posted a 96-78 win over Muskegon Catholic.
Claire Wodzien was a double winner for the Trojans, winning the 200 (2:11.63) and 500 (5:55.89) freestyles.
Against Muskegon Catholic, TC Central posted three other victories. Michelle Rizor won diving (151.1 points) and Lauren Rockafellow the 100 freestyle (1:04.79) while Wodzien, Rockafellow, Rizor and Megan Vermetten won the 400 freestyle relay (4:31.3).
The next dual meet for TC West and Central will be at home on Oct. 16 against Spring Lake.

Cadillac 0
TC West scored all its goals in the first half -- two by Curt Olson -- en route to a 4-0 triumph over Cadillac in the Big North Conference regular-season finale.
Olson had the first goal for the Titans (11-6-1, 8-1-1 BNC) on an assist from Rico Rodriguez.
Jon Gourlay's goal, assisted by Olson, came before an unassisted tally by Olson made the score 3-0. Todd Flynn closed out the scoring with an assist from Jon Spencer.
Erik Nixon was the winning keeper for West, which faces TC Central on Monday in a Division 1 district opener at the Coast Guard Fields.
The TC West JV posted a 2-1 victory over Cadillac.

Gaylord 2
Host Traverse City Central wrapped up the regular season Thursday with a 5-2 Big North Conference win over Gaylord.
The Trojans (11-7-1, 6-4 BNC) had two goals from Christian Groesbeck, while Dane Macdonell, A.J. Moehn and Greg Merica all scored. David Noble had three assists while Trevor Osburn and Bennett Weckler each added an assist.
Ben Mansfield had 10 saves for TC Central while Kevin Trippe led the defense.
TC Central will play TC West at 7 p.m. Monday in the district opener.

Elk Rapids wrapped up an undefeated Lake Michigan Conference season with a 5-0 shutout of Grayling.
John Greiner had two goals and three points and Andy Tezak also notched two goals. Tucker Hogarth added a goal and an assist and Sean Pappas picked up an assist.
Nick Thompson posted the shutout in goal.
The Elks (13-6-1, 12-0 LMC) host Charlevoix on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the first game in a district doubleheader. Traverse City Christian plays East Jordan at 7 p.m.

Sterling Adgate and Ethen Mapes scored goals as Boyne City topped East Jordan 2-1 in Lake Michigan Conference action.
Midfielder Joshua Force scored East Jordan's goal 18 minutes into the first half to give the Red Devils a 1-0 halftime advantage.
East Jordan goalkeeper Jordan Hagen made 23 saves.

Inland Lakes 0
Forest Area moved to 7-0 in the Ski Valley Conference Thursday with a straight-set win over Inland Lakes.
The Warriors (22-11-2) won 25-13, 25-23, 25-16.
Megan Monks had 13 kills and two blocks while Mae Johnson had 16 kills. Lauren Kneer had 10 digs, Cassie McGee had nine digs, Allie Garrett had 19 assists, Molly Lockwood had eight assists and four aces while Katie Hodges had seven assists.

Suttons Bay third at Mesick Invitational
Suttons Bay's boys ran to a third-place finish Thursday at the Mesick Invitational.
Norsemen Ben Wynsma was the overall champ while Chase Palmer was 17th in 18:17. Travis Smith was 34th, Tom Pritz was 37th and Mark Jasinski was 45th.

Joe Prokes ran for two touchdowns, threw for another and kicked four extra points as Traverse City Central downed Cadillac 40-6 in a freshman football matchup.
Prokes had running TDs of 45 and 7 yards and connected with Kellen Winowiecki on a 42-yard scoring pass.
Tyler Clark added a 40-yard TD run, Brandon McKee threw a 5-yard TD pass to Ian McGraw and Noah Lalonde had a 50-yard TD run.
Boone Marois and Sem Novikov added interceptions and Angel Mariani recovered a fumble as the Trojans (4-3, 4-0 Big North) led 27-0 at halftime.

Traverse City Central recovered a fumble on the opening kick Thursday and never looked back for a 27-20 Big North Conference win over Cadillac.
Vatsana Phengkhamkip recovered the opening kick for the Trojans (4-1, 3-1 BNC) and Dylan Roe later scored.
David Shepler had 35-yard and 7-yard touchdowns for Central while Sheldon Berry also had a 15-yard TD.
The Trojans had three goal-line stands on defense with Vai Taula and Cody Vickers leading the defensive effort.

Harbor Springs JV 14
Traverse City St. Francis and Harbor Springs combined for 68 first-half points Thursday as the Gladiators earned a 60-14 Lake Michigan Conference win.
St. Francis (5-2) had two rushing touchdowns from Will Grombala, who also hauled in a 20-yard score from Dylan Seibert.
Tyler Hansen had a 6-yard score, Jack Jamison scored from a yard out, Justin Olm had a 43-yard touchdown run and Ryan McDonnell also ran for a score. Seibert also had a 25-yard pass to Sean Sheldon for a TD.
Jackson Koepka had two touchdown passes for the Rams, connecting with Jack Lyle and Emmitt Fineout.
Olm, Kyle Gallagher and Riley Bullough had interceptions for St. Francis while Seth Kelicut had a number of standout plays.
