Cadillac 3
A close 5-3 win over Cadillac gave Traverse City Central a not-so-close leg up on the Big North Conference regular-season crown.
The Trojans are now 3-0 in the league, with only last-place Alpena remaining on the conference docket.
Central won three of the four singles flights, getting victories from Max Lundmark (6-3, 6-1), Harry Malone (6-0, 6-1) and Caleb Morgan (6-1, 6-1).
Cadillac's wins came from P.J. O'Hagan at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-4), and the doubles teams of Eric Hoblet/Josh Feister and A.J. VanAlst/Jessie Adaman (6-2, 6-2). Hoblet and Feister handed the TC Central duo of Chris Heimburger and Paper Pappas (16-1) their first loss of the season.
The Trojans won at No. 3 doubles with Clark Phelps/Spencer Potter (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) and at No. 4 doubles with Mark Jones/Eric Krueger (6-4, 3-6, 6-1).
TC Central heads to the Holland Invitational on Saturday, aiming to defend their title.
The Trojans' JV Black team downed Cadillac 8-1.
Central's wins came from Matt Shaw (6-0, 6-1), Trey Pazzetti (6-4, 6-3) and Marc Habermann (6-0, 6-1) at singles, while the Trojans swept all five doubles matches.
Doubles winners were Philip Hanawalt/Dan Fedor (6-2, 6-1), Garrett Kosch/Sean Soupiset (6-0, 6-1), Shawn Roach/Karl Jacobson (6-2, 6-0), Chris Hicks/Alex Hushak (6-3, 6-0) and Matt Heimburger/Keegan Hall (6-3, 7-6 [7-2]).

The Traverse City West JV did not lose a set in beating the Traverse City Central Gold JV 8-0.
Victorious for the Titans: Carter Payne (6-0, 6-0), Ben Greenman (6-1, 6-0), Mac Templeton (6-2, 6-2), Tim Durham (6-1, 6-1), Andrew Baker-Tyler Markin (6-0, 6-1), Sam Sanderson-Curtis Brengman (6-0, 6-0), Willie Hanrahan-Luke Piotrowski (6-1, 6-1) and Robert Mampe-Joe Caldwell (forfeit).
St. Francis takes pair of JV meets from Petoskey
Traverse City St. Francis claimed a pair of junior varsity meets from Petoskey, as the JV Blue won 7-1 and JV Gold downed the Northmen 5-3.
Winners for the JV Blue were Keith Gingras (6-3, 7-5), John O'Neil (6-2, 6-0) and Tanner Hobbes (6-3, 6-4) at singles, and Paul Bandrowski/Sean Leonard (6-7, 6-1, 10-8), Brendan Barnes/Alex Grombala (7-6, 6-2), Nathan Haggard/Steve Knape (6-0, 6-0) and Cole McCardel/Chase Richmond (6-1, 6-0).
Petoskey's John Ismond won his singles match 7-5, 6-3.
The JV Gold received singles victories by Kolter Hornyak (6-5, 6-1) and Buddy Eckhoff (6-1, 6-3). Petoskey's Durand Nixon (6-4, 6-1) and Hunter Reeves (6-1, 7-5) won.
The Gold team received doubles wins by Mike Jenkins/Alex Quinlan (6-3, 7-6 [7-0]), Christian Tremp/Mike Kirby (2-6, 6-0, 10-8) and Ben Alpers/Cole Gingras (6-7-6, 6-4). Petoskey's duo of Rob Menges and Mitch Reynolds won their match 6-1, 7-5.
