Avery Lipman posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lee Batcha at No. 1 singles as Leelanau County beat the Traverse City West JV 8-0.
Also winning for Leelanau: Pedro Machado (6-3, 6-2), Simon Kohler (6-0, 7-6), Leif VanderWerff (6-3, 6-2), Wyatt Smith-Caleb Abbott (6-4, 7-5), Adam Scarbrough-Clay Wolin (6-0, 6-0), Jacob Sterkenberg-Matt Brown (6-3, 4-6, 10-6) and Reese Riley-Sierra Parent (6-1, 4-6, 11-9).
Seven Traverse City Central players were selected to this year's All-State tennis squad.

The honors keep coming in for Traverse City St. Francis. Fresh off a fifth-place finish in the Division 4 state finals, the Gladiators recently saw their No. 1 doubles team earn All-State honors. St. Francis seniors Sean Paquet and Newton Calcutt were named one of nine doubles teams to earn Division 4 All-State accolades.

Josh Kurtz and Patrick Wilson entered the Division 4 state tennis finals Friday as No. 6 seeds in No. 3 doubles. The two emerged Saturday as champions. Kurtz and Wilson swept top-seeded Andrew Sackett and David Goldfarb of Ann Arbor Greenhills to capture the flight.

State titles in golf and tennis will be on the line this weekend. And northern Michigan will be well represented. Six local teams will compete in tennis while two teams and four individuals will seek honors in golf. The finals run Friday and Saturday at various sites.
