Tax unearned income

In his State of the Union Address President Obama said he wants to tax unearned income of more than $1 million at the rate someone who works pays.

The voices in defense of these "idle rich" will rise all through the fall campaign. They will tell us this money has already been taxed or that it must be there to provide jobs.

Remember that there is something like $3 billion in our banks now not being loaned out. And any taxes paid on this money were paid by someone else for some other way of earning it.

Also the president wanted to start this tax at $1 million, high enough to not tax all but the richest retirees.

This tax is needed to balance the budget and pay for the excess spending of the Bush years.

Center calls a nuisance

This letter is to bring to light the constant hounding of phone calls of payment prior to my surgery at the surgical center in Traverse City.

My wife and I have outstanding credit, I am not sure why we are constantly being called every other day two weeks prior to my surgery demanding full payment or setting up some type of payment options.

The payment option would have to be paid off in one year with ridiculous interest rates.

We still received these phone calls after we told we would pay in full with our credit card the day of surgery.

This medical center is an extreme nuisance and is almost like a bad credit collection agency rather then a medical treatment center that is supposed to care for their patients rather then caring more about the money.

Munson Medical Center is much more caring. I understand that a business needs to be paid for services rendered but this is over the top.

Show us the money then we will help you.
