TRAVERSE CITY — Wayne Edwin Oja, 61, passed away Dec. 16, 2012, at Munson Hospice House, following a brief illness. Wayne was born Dec. 12, 1951, to Edwin W. and Rita C. (Pulaski) Oja in Grand Rapids.
Wayne was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He spent most of his life on the Gulf of Mexico working the shrimp boats.
He is survived by his father, Edwin; sisters, Patricia A. Rohloff and Mary B. (Gene) Palmatier; niece, Jessica O. Rohloff; nephew, Joshua G. Palmatier; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
