TRAVERSE CITY — Volunteers from the Traverse City Kiwanis Club on Saturday will roll up their sleeves and package 15,000 meals for hungry people around the world.
One-third of the meals, which consist of rice and nutritional additives, will remain in the community.
Five youth clubs from area schools will join more than 75 Kiwanis volunteers in the Kids Against Hunger project. They will assemble food packages in the Traverse City Central High School cafeteria.
The clubs raised $4,200 to support the effort.
This is the Kiwanis Club's seventh year aiding the hungry across the globe.
