HOWELL — Traverse City Central went south to open up the prep baseball season, dropping a doubleheader to Howell, 13-2 and 9-2.
Adam Stepan had three hits for the Trojans. Brady Brantley had RBI singles in each game, and Nick Keller doubled in the opener and drove in a run in the nightcap.
Central is now off until after spring break.
CENTRAL TRACK OFF & RUNNING: Ryan Gemmell and Matt Moss led TC Central's boys track team with fourth-place finishes at the 35-team Grand Valley State University Indoor Invitational.
Gemmell was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 12'6", while Moss' time of 2:04.1 took fourth in the 400.
Other top placers were: Kevin Leahy (fifth, 300 hurdles); Boone Marois (fifth, 60-meter dash; Aaron taylor (sixth, high jump); Sem Novikov (sixth, long jump); and Kyle Doetterer (seventh, 1,600).
No team scores were kept at the meet.
