TRAVERSE CITY — A man stunned by police Taser in a home invasion incident was arraigned in 86th District Court.
James E. Dean, 23, of Williamsburg, was charged Wednesday as a habitual offender with second-degree home invasion, a 15-year felony; and resisting, obstructing and assault on a police officer, punishable by two years.
Two people told a Grand Traverse County sheriff's deputy that Dean entered their home on East Carriage Hill Drive late Sunday and assaulted them both, according to court records. The people said they did not know the suspect.
The deputy tried to arrest Dean at the scene, but he ran away. Court records state the deputy shot a Taser to stop him.
Dean is at the Grand Traverse County jail on a $50,000 cash bond. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 22.
