Track Roundup: Huskies win Northwest

BENZONIA — Jill Louisignau and Michael Carnegie won four events each, leading Benzie Central's girls to a Northwest Conference championship.

The Huskies boys did the same, led by three firsts and a second by Nick Radionoff.

Benzie's girls scored 241 points, easily outdistancing second-place Kingsley (81), followed by Frankfort (65), Buckley (57), Mesick (47), Suttons Bay (40) and Glen Lake (10).

Louisignau, who was named the girls' Senior Performer of the Meet, won three individual events — the 100 hurdles, high jump and long jump — and ran a leg on Benzie's winning 800 relay team along with Taylor Wichtner, Corrie Noah and Jordan Nye.

Louisignau's time of 16.95 in the 110 hurdles beat out Kingsley's Sara Lueck by 0.02, while she won high jump with a leap of 4'10" and the long jump at 15'1.5".

Carnegie won both the 1,600 (5:34.98) and 800 (2:30.84), but was part of the victorious 3,200 relay — along with Taylor Nye, Theresa Warsecke and Miranda Besey — in 10:32 and the 1,600 relay, combining with Wichtner, Jordan Nye and Warsecke to finish in 4:14.65.

Taylor Nye won the 3,200 in 12:30.58 as the Huskies held the top three spots in that event (Amber Peabody was second, Anna Grabowski third).

Wichtner's 27.12 in the 200 was first, and she also was tops in the 300 hurdles (48.0).

Warsecke won the 400 in 1:01.45, while Abigail Secor took the 100 in 13.84.

Benzie's 400 relay team (Jordan Nye, Secor, Noah and Tawny Kosiboski) won in 54.22 seconds.

Kingsley's Stephanie Berreth won the discus with a heave of 110'8", while Glen Lake's Dani Frost's throw of 36'5" took the shot put.

Radionoff leads Benzie boys to league crown

Nick Radionoff ran on two winning relay teams and also claimed the 400 as Benzie Central's boys won the Northwest Conference championship.

Radionoff took the 400 in 51.75 seconds.

He combined with Corey Bock, Maurice Nash and Josiah Myers to win the 800 relay in 1:34.17, and with Nash, Myers and Gerrit Buist in the 1,600 relay (3:36.45).

The Huskies won with 184 points, followed by Suttons Bay (117.5), Kingsley (99), Frankfort (49.5), Glen Lake (38), Mesick (37) and Buckley (19).

Suttons Bay's Ben Wynsma won three events and was selected as the male Senior Performer of the Meet.

Wynsma won the 800 (2:03.57), 1,600 (4:36.79) and 3,200 (10:13.55).

Teammate Dwuan Anderson took both the high jump (6'4") and long jump (21'3").

Frankfort's Alex Gokey won both the discus (124'9") and shot put (47'0.5").

Glen Lake's Elliott Clark won both the 100 (11.18) and 200 (23.30).

Benzie's Myers won the 300 hurdles in 42.19, while teammate David Rhodes took the pole vault by clearing 11'3".

The other relay events went to the 400 team of Glen Lake (Jason Sawyer, Austin Flees, Parker Kokowicz, Clark) in 46.51 and Benzie's 3,200 quartet of Buist, Talon Morris, Rick Jones and Robert Kerby in 8:41.

Kingsley's Ben Simpson won the 110 hurdles.

LAKE MICHIGAN

Meachum leads TCSF girls to conference title

Hannah Meachum set Lake Michigan Conference meet records in the 300 hurdles and pole vault in leading Traverse City St. Francis to the league crown.

The Gladiators posted 132 points to outdistance runner-up Harbor Springs by 10, followed by Charlevoix (117), Boyne City (64), Grayling (57), Elk Rapids (56), Kalkaska (55) and East Jordan (40).

Meachum ran the 300 hurdles in 47.52 seconds, winning by more than three seconds.

She also cleared 11 feet in the pole vault to set another LMC championship meet mark.

Meachum's time of 16.10 in the 100 hurdles won by 1.3 seconds.

Elk Rapids' Kelly VanDuesen also set a meet record with a long jump of 16'5.25" and won the 100 in 13.01 seconds.

St. Francis' Lauren Buckel won the 400 in 1:02.55 and was part of the winning 1,600 relay team along with Maddy Danz, Krissi Dressler and Cassie Williams and the 800 relay team with Danielle Bott, Kaitlyn Hegewald and McKaely Ludka.

Grayling's Shanley Dorn won the 200 in 27.30 and the Vikings' 400 relay team of Dorn, Samantha Hansen, Stanna Dorn and Drianna Kirk also was victorious.

Harbor Springs' Maddie Buntin won both the 800 (2:34.51) and 1,600 (5:35.57).

Kristen Albert of Harbor Springs won the high jump by clearing 4'8", and the Rams also took the 3,200 relay.

Kalkaska's Amanda Flanigan won the discus with a throw of 103'9.5".

Erica Westbrook of Boyne City won the 3,200 in 12:25.80.

Sarah Potter of Charlevoix was first in the shot put with a heave of 33'2.5".

Charlevoix wins boys title

Three Lake Michigan Conference meet records fell as Charlevoix claimed the league title.

The Rayders' Eric Buday's 2:03.29 in the 800 set one of those marks.

Elk Rapids' Jeff Xavier ran a 10.5 in the 100 to set another and the Traverse City St. Francis 800 relay team of Ian Sheldon, Marc Kanitz, Ben Schell and Ben Swan broke another with a time of 1:34.12.

Charlevoix won the meet with a team score of 117 points, 64 ahead of St. Francis, followed by Harbor Springs (101), Grayling (79.5), Elk Rapids (63), Boyne City (43), East Jordan (40) and Kalkaska (32).

Johnathan Wheatley won both the high jump (5'10") and long jump (19'5.25") for St. Francis, while Kanitz claimed both the 400 (51.18) and 200 (23.09).

The Rayders' Casey Helstrom won two events — the 110 hurdles (15.69) and 300 hurdles (41.76).

Jay Lechner of Harbor Springs took the league title in the discus with a throw of 142'4", while Charlevoix's Bill Ivan won the shot put at 48;4.75".

Eric Buday of Charlevoix won the 1,600 in 4:38.79.

The Rayders also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays. Grayling took the 400 relay with a team of Nick Dorn, Trevor DeWitt, Zavier Lindsay and Cody Myers.

East Jordan's lone event win came from Erin Brun in the pole vault (12').

Matt Moss won the 3,200 for Elk Rapids in 10:27.51.

SKI VALLEY

Joburg girls win league

Meridith DeLuca won the 1,600 and 800 as Johannesburg-Lewiston claimed the Ski Valley Conference girls championship.

The Cardinals won with 195 points to Inland Lakes' 105, followed by Onaway (75), Forest Area (69), Bellaire (53), Mancelona (45), Pellston (41), Central Lake (35) and Gaylord St. Mary (28).

DeLuca took the 800 in 2:33.1 and the 1,600 in 5:40.19.

The Cardinals also received a win from Abby Schlicher (5'2" in high jump), Stephanie Fisher (15 feet in long jump) and its 3,200 relay team (10:46.39).

Katie Johnson and Marissa Ingersol each won four events for Forest Area.

Johnson won both the 100 and 300 hurdles (in 16.9 and 51.0), while Ingersol claimed the 100 (13.37) and 200 (27.7).

The pair were also on both of Forest Area's winning relay teams, pairing with Courtney Middaugh and Lindsey Czuk each time to win the 400 (55.5) and 800 (1:57.9) events.

Central Lake's Jasmine Hines won both the shot put (41'9") and discus (108 feet).

Inland Lakes' Brianna Ohlert won the pole vault, clearing 10'6". The Bulldogs also won the 1,600 relay.

Ashley LeCureux of Onaway won the 3,200 in 12:39.93, while Bellaire's Hannah Underwood took the 400 in 1:03.7.

O'Bradovich leads Onaway to SVC title

Jan O'Bradovich won the 400 and high jump titles in leading Onaway to the Ski Valley Conference boys crown.

The Cardinals won with 170 points, followed by Forest Area (101), Mancelona (80), Pellston (73), Central Lake (60), Inland Lakes (51), Gaylord St. Mary (45), Bellaire (44) and Johannesburg-Lewiston (33).

O'Bradovich posted a time of 54.46 in the 400 and cleared six feet in the high jump.

Pellston's Heath Welch won the 800 (2:06.79) and 1,600 (4:45.41).

St. Mary's Clay Becker was also a multiple winner, taking both the 100 (11.43) and 200 (23.32). The Snowbirds also won the 400 relay.

Onaway won the 800 and 3,200 relays, and also received wins from Logan Wilkinson (37'11.5" in the shot put), Lain Veinl (10:39.42 in 3,200) and Bryan Tucker (41.82 in 300 hurdles).

Mancelona's Corey Lowers claimed the pole vault with a height of 11', while Cody Aldrich won the discus with a toss of 123'9".

Forest Area's Jermaine Nix won the long jump with a leap of 19'1.75" and the Warriors' 1,600 relay team of Taman Gerring, Matt Park, Luke Rookus and Jessie Richards won in 3:44.

Donavan Dawson of Bellaire took the 110 hurdles in 15.99.
