SCOTTVILLE -- Traverse City Central's girls ran away with the Optimist Invitational.
The Trojans scored 172 points for first at the 11-team meet while Grant was second at 78.
TC Central won the 3,200-meter relay with Maren Bahra, Amy Marsh, Julia Otwell and Katie Fallick in 10 minutes, 19 seconds. The team also took the 1600 relay in 4:16.9 while Marsh won the 400 in 1:02.
Otwell won the 1600 (5:28) while Katie Perkins was second (5:35.4) and Taylor Mattarella (5:38) third. Mattarella won the 3200 (12:05), Perkins was second (12:07) and Kelsey Minor (12:36) third. Kortney Bower (106-10) won the discus while Stephanie Berreth was fifth (88-1).
Bower was second in the shot put (36-5.5) while Berreth was fourth (32-1.5). Bahra was second in the long jump (15-9) and Sam Ehle was second in the 800 (2:35.1) while Allison Ostema (2:38.6) was fifth.
Central was also second in the 800 relay with Marsh, Fallick, Molly Walker and Bahra (1:54.7) while the 400 relay of Dani Peck, Brianna Podsaid, Emily Grof and Mallory Weaver was fourth (55.3).
Weaver was third in the 100 hurdles (17.51) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (52.59) while Jen Terbrack and Megan Durfee tied for fourth in the pole vault (7-9).
In the boys' meet, TC Central won with 158.5 points while Mason Co. Central was second at 102.5.
Trojans freshman Tyler Clark won the 100 (11.54), was second in the 200 (24.4). He teamed with Ben Broad, Mike Heim and Boone Marois for first in the 800 (1:35) while Clark, Broad, Heim and Blair Bell won the 400 in 44.2 seconds.
Blair Bell took the 110 hurdles (15.2) while James Barbera won the shot put (48-9.5) for the Trojans and Peter Johnson was second (47-5.5).
Alex Lance was second in the 1600 (4:41.6), while Evan Dancer was fourth (4:44.8) and Reece Karvowski (4:46.3) sixth. Jacob Borysiak was second in the 800 (2:05.9) and Lance was fourth (2:08.7). James Padden was third in the 3200 (10:39.8).
Central was second in the 3200 relay (8:33.4) with Borsyiak, Tyler Kelly, Lance and Dyllon Lizenby. Nick Alpers was third in the discus (118-4) and Shawn Serrell was fourth (10-9) in the pole vault.
Suttons Bay finished sixth in the boys division and ninth in girls.
The Norse boys were led by Ben Wynsma, who won two events and placed second in another.
He won the 800 in 2:05.3 and the 1,600 in 4:38.9, coming in second in the 3,200 with a time of 10:38.
Travis Smith was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 10-3.
On the girls side, Olivia Raftshol was second in the 300 hurdles in 51.23 seconds.
Angela Patterson's throw of 94-9 was good for this in the discus and Rory Price was fourth in the 1,600 (5:55) and fifth in the 3,200 (13:42).
TC West combines to place 5th at Midland
Traverse City West's boys and girls track teams combined to place fifth in the Midland Relays.
The meet added the points scored by boys and girls teams into one final total.
The Titans' girls scored 54 points and the boys had 31. Midland won the meet.
Events were also run in a relay format, with entries in each combined together for one result.
On the girls side, West won the pole vault with a total of 27 feet by Ashley Leitner, Jamie Gotshall and Breanna Greenland.
The four-mile relay team of Kaylee VanDommelen, Hannah Rickard, Marcy Marek and Clancey Hawke were second.
The 3,200 relay team of Veronica Asch, Erin Holstad, Kayle Noble and VanDommelen was also second in 10:44, as was the 800 relay squad of Kara Pohlman, Mandy Scott, Dani Brzezinski and Logan Niedermaier (1:53.7).
The sprint medley team of Hannah Schnack, Ruth Hines, Scott and Brzezinski was also second.
For the West boys, Marshall Cartwright, Max Hughes and Scott Ringwelski were second in the high jump with a total of 16-2.
The long jump team of Gunner Brammer, Greg Forrester and Zac Shafer were third with a total of 57-13/4, while the 3,200 relay team of Sebby Kucera, Heath Bristol, Ray Innis and Ben Dean was also third, finishing in 8:40.
West travels to Cadillac for a meet Tuesday.
St. Francis breaks school record
Traverse City St. Francis set a new school record at the Clare Invitational.
The Gladiators finished sixth overall and third in their division as Hannah Meachum set a school and meet record by clearing 10 feet, 3 inches in the pole vault.
Meachum was aslo first in the 300 hurdles in 48.92 and second in the 100 hurdles in 16.24. Katie Olsen won the 800 (2:29) while Morgan McCardel was second in the 1600 (5:28).
St. Francis was first in its division in the boys meet and second overal.
Adam Karpinski won the pole vault (12-6) while Ryan Farley was second (12-6). Taylor Hennrick won the 300 hurdles (42.36) and was second in the 110 hurdles (16.41). Brady Mikula also finished third in the long jump (19-1).
James Alpers, Ricky Woods, Alex Grieve and Corey Williams teamed for third in the 3200 relay (8:27) while the 1600 relay finished third (3:37).
