Track Roundup: TC Central beats Cadillac

TRAVERSE CITY -- Maren Bahra and Kortney Bower led Traverse City Central to an 88-75 Big North Conference girls track victory over Cadillac on Tuesday.

Bahra won the long jump (15'8.5") and 400 (1:01.19) while Bower swept the shot put (37'2") and discus (106'6").

The Trojans also picked up wins from Mallory Weaver in the 100 hurdles (17.32), Danni Peck in the 300 hurdles (52.56) and Julia Otwell in the 800 (2:25.60).

Central captured the 3200 (9:51.70) and 400 (55.8) relays.

Cadillac's Kaitlyn Patterson took the 1600 (5:22.16) and 3200 (11:05.77) while Erica Olson claimed the high jump (5'), Betsy Coon the pole vault (8'6"), Katie Walker the 100 (13.3) and Katie Dickson the 200 (28.31). The Vikings won the 800 (1:54.9) and 1600 (4:33.5) relays.

Alpena handed Traverse City West a 93.5-67.5 Big North Conference setback.

Kara Pohlman paced the Titans, winning the 100 hurdles (17.65), 300 hurdles (51.94) and running a leg on the winning 800 relay (1:55.10).

Freshman Bridget Bernhard won the shot put (27'8.5") while Ashley Leitner took the pole vault (9'6") and Hannah Rickard the 1600 (5:45.2).

Benzie dominates meet at Mesick

Devyn Ramsay captured the 1600 (5:34) and 3200 (12:49) as Benzie Central won a five-team meet at Mesick.

The Huskies finished with 149.5 points. They were followed by Grand Traverse Academy (78), Mesick (43.5), Buckley (28) and Traverse City Christian (23).

Also winning for Benzie: Corrie Noah in the 100 hurdles (17.34), Michaela Carnegie in the 400 (59.7), Melissa Geetings in the high jump (4'4") and Theresa Warsecke in the 800 (2:31). The Huskies also claimed the 3200 (10:37), 800 (1:55.9), 400 (55.4) and 1600 (4:28) relays.

Grand Traverse Academy freshman Madison Bluemel set a new 300 hurdles school record with a time of 54.9 seconds.

Rachel Zeppa won both the 100 and 200 for GT Academy. She hasn't lost a race in the 200 this season.

The mile relay team of Zeppa, Bluemel, Kaitlin Schwartz and Stephanie Horning set a school record with a time of 4:29.28.

Graves sparks Kingsley to Northwest quad win

Ashley Graves swept the shot put (34'9") and discus (112'9.5") as Kingsley won a Northwest Conference quad.

Kingsley had 102 points. Frankfort was second (78), Suttons Bay third (48) and Glen Lake fourth (13).

Kingsley won two other field events -- Bre Nickerson in the high jump (4'10") and Mary Kaleita in the pole vault (8'6"). Kingsley also won the 1600 relay (4:43).

Frankfort's winners included Maggie Miller in the 100 hurdles (19.71), Jessica Schaub in the 100 (14.72), Keeton Spencley in the 400 (1:04), Hanne Langels in the 800 (2:39), Noel Bigley in the 3200 (15:28) and Becky Gatrell in the long jump (13'11"). Frankfort also claimed the 3200 (10:27) and 400 (56.94) relays.

Olivia Raftshol won the 200 (28.93) and 300 hurdles (52.26). Rory Price took the 1600 (5:57). The Norse also claimed the 800 relay (1:58).

BOYS TRACK

Trojans run league record to 4-0

Blair Bell took the 110 high hurdles (14.92) and 300 intermediates (41.39) as Traverse City Central defeated Cadillac 114.5-49.5 in a Big North Conference boys track meet.

Central improved to 4-0 in league duals.

The Trojans won nine other events -- Tyler Clark in the 100 (11.08), Jacob Borysiak in the 400 (53.07), Shawn Sorrell in the pole vault (11'11"), Nick Bruning in the 800 (2:08.61), Phothivath Phengkhamkip in the long jump (19'9.5"), Evan Dancer in the 3200 (10:01.63) and the 3200 (8:34.89), 800 (1:33.95) and 1600 (3:42.71) relays. Clark also set a freshman record in the 200 (22.96).

Cadillac's Zach Pant took the shot put (49'2") and discus (133'9").

Alpena 72

Eric Wilson won the 1,600 and 800 to lead Traverse City West to a 91-72 Big North Conference meet win against Alpena.

Wilson took the mile in 4:49 and the 800 in 2:06.

Gunnar Brammer claimed the long jump with a leap of 18-10, while Greg Forrester won the 300 hurdles in 42.9.

Jonah Larsen was first in the 3,200 in 10:31, and Kam Wood's 25.1 time in the 200 was good for the top spot.

The Titans travel to the Olivet Invitational on Friday.

Zaleski powers Kingsley to Northwest win

Dave Zaleski won three events to lead Kingsley to a victory in a Northwest Conference quad.

The Stags finished with 128 points. They were followed by Frankfort (66), Suttons Bay (52) and Glen Lake (5).

Zaleski captured the 200 (23.84), 400 (55.12) and high jump (5'8"). Tom Sedlacek and Nolan Stiner added two wins apiece. Sedlacek took the 1600 (4:54) and 800 (2:07) while Stiner won the 110 high hurdles (16.26) and 300 intermediates (42.3).

Kingsley's Nate Ensman captured the 100 (12.02), Travis Sedlacek the discus (124'10"), Jared Case the shot put (43'4") and Justin Muellre the long jump (19'1"). The Stags added wins in the 400 (46.27), 800 (1:37.9) and 1600 (3:40) relays.

Suttons Bay's Ben Wynsma won the 3200 (9:55.54).

The Norsemen also took the 3200 relay (9:02).
