Court rules Oakland redistricting legal

DETROIT — The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that the Republican majority on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners has the right to redraw members' districts.

The Supreme Court's four Republican-nominated members ruled that a law wasn't a local act, so therefore should stand.

The three justices nominated by Democrats dissented.

The ruling throws out the map drawn by the bipartisan commission of three Democrats and two Republicans.
