KALKASKA — Bryan R. Hoppe, 53 of Kalkaska, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 3, 1959, in Alpena, the son of the late Robert and Helen (Cuddie) Hoppe. Bryan married Shirley McKay on Feb. 8, 1980, in Alpena.
He was the store manager of Stock Building Supplies for over 30 years, working in Alpena, Hillman and Kalkaska. Bryan's hobbies included golfing, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, friends and especially, his grandchildren. Bryan was a member of the Kalkaska Lion's Club.
Surviving Bryan is his wife of 32 years, Shirley; his children, Jessica M. (James) Peckat, of Grayling, and Joshua B. (Amy) Hoppe, of Kalkaska; and his grandchildren, James Bryan and Jacob Peckat and Vanessa Hoppe.
Bryan was preceded in death by his brothers, James Buchhage and Wayne Hoppe.
Visitation will take place Wednesday evening, Feb. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, with visitation beginning three hours prior to the service at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. Bob Saxton, of the Spencer Church of Christ, will be officiating. Burial will be at Stratt Cemetery in the spring.
