ALPENA — Traverse City Central put the wraps on its second consecutive unbeaten Big North Conference hockey season Monday night with a 6-3 win at Alpena.
The Trojans finished 10-0 and in the process stretched their league unbeaten streak to 21 games. Central's last Big North loss was to Gaylord in overtime on Feb. 9, 2011.
"Going 10-0 back to back, I don't know if that's ever been done before," Trojans coach Chris Givens said. "At the beginning of the season, the boys talked about wanting to keep that streak intact. It's not an easy thing to do."
Five different Trojans scored goals in Monday's win. Cam Givens netted two while Nico Saco, Mitchell Ward, Alex Oliver and Jon Russell had one each. Two of the goals came on power plays.
