Traverse City — Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St., will host its annual Messiah Sing on Sunday, December 2 at 4 p.m.
This year's performance will be accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra directed by Byron Hanson and special guests the Grand Traverse Chorale and Chamber Singers from Northwestern Michigan College.
The public is invited to join the performance and rehearsal will start at 2:45 p.m.
Participants may bring their own score or scores will be provided at the door.
There is no charge for participation or admission, however a free-will offering will be collected to help cover expenses.

Chum's Corner — Menards home improvement store is serving as a toy drive drop-off site. New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off through mid-December at the store, 4155 U.S. 31 South.
Photos on exhibit
Traverse City — The public is invited to meet some of the people experiencing homelessness in the Traverse City area through photos and interviews in "The Other Traverse City Part 2."
The exhibit, featuring the work of Alan Newton, will open with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St., where the exhibit may be viewed through December.
Leelanau County — The Leelanau Community Choir will present a variety of seasonal songs and carols at their annual Christmas concert series.
The choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Leland's Immanuel Lutheran Church, 303 E. Pearl St. Performances on Sunday, Dec. 2, are at 3 p.m. at Suttons Bay Congregational Church, 218 Madison, and 7 p.m. in Glen Arbor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6012 Lake St.

The gift of art
East Jordan — The Jordan River Arts Council's 12th Members Holiday Art for Sale is under way and continues through Friday, Dec. 21.
Jordan River Arts Council member artists are displaying more than 1,000 items in a Christmas setting at the arts center, 301 Main St. Sale hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Gift wrapping is provided. CD release party
Traverse City — A CD release show will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at Good Work Collective, 417 S. Union St.
The CD, "Harvest Queen," is a collaborative recording featuring Michigan fiddler Bob Bernard and Boulder, Colo., violinist Kailin Yong, who first performed together at the Earthwork Harvest Gathering.
The party starts at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. For details, call 499-4968.
