---- — Traverse City St. Francis prepared for its league opener with a 55-50 win over Class A non-conference Cadillac on Monday.
Lydia Arthur scored 12 points for the Gladiators, while Bridget Bussell had 11 points and 12 rebounds, Liza Erickson scored 11 points and Megan Knudsen added nine points off the bench.
"Cadillac has a very nice team and our girls played perhaps their best game of the year," Gladiators coach Mike Knudsen said. "I hope it carries over to conference play."
The Glads (3-1) host Kalkaska for their Lake Michigan Conference opener Friday.
Cadillac (5-0) won the JV game 47-32, led by Jenna Erway's 19 points.
Joanne Britten scored 15 for St. Francis (2-3) and Lauren McDonnell added 11.
GIRLS HOOPS
Petoskey 63 Cheboygan 33
Petoskey scored more points by halftime than Cheboygan would end up with at the final horn in a 63-33 non-conference victory.
Kelsey Ance led the Northmen with 19 points and Kati Lewis pitched in 10.
Brooke Hancock led Cheboygan with eight points.
Petoskey (3-1) returns to Big North Conference play Friday at Cadillac.
TC Bulldogs 51 Leland 34
The Traverse City Bulldogs used a late push to pull away from Leland for a 51-34 victory.
Leland trailed 28-20 at halftime.
Molly Plamondon led the Bulldogs (5-1) with 20 points and six rebounds, while Sarah Plamondon poured in 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals and Casie Plamondon had 12 points, six boards and nine thefts.
Whitney Schaub led the Comets with 11 points and Libby Munoz added eight points and five assists.
The Bulldogs host Lake Leelanau St. Mary's on Friday, while Leland hosts Mesick that same day.
Manistee CC 77 Lake Leelanau SM 61
Manistee Catholic Central used a third-quarter surge to post a 77-61 non-conference victory over Lake Leelanau St. Mary's.
The Sabers led 36-33 at halftime, but extended that slim lead to 61-45 by the end of the third stanza.
Haley Doyle led Manistee CC with 23 points and Alysha Heck added 13.
Rachael Thon paced St. Mary's with 18 points and nine rebounds and Lindsey Boone added 18 points.
Joburg-Lewiston 57 East Jordan 43
Abby Schlicher filled the stat sheet as Johannesburg-Lewiston defeated East Jordan 57-43 in non-conference action.
Schlicher had 26 points, eight steals, six rebounds, two blocks and three assists.
Hannah Huff added nine points and 14 rebounds for the Cardinals, while Katelyn Weaver had eight points, two blocks and three assists. Brittany Cherwinski pitched in six points and six boards.
TC West frosh 44 Boyne City frosh 43
Marie Savoie knocked down a free throw in the final minute to give Traverse City West a 44-43 freshman win over Boyne City.
Makenna Mattson scored 17 for the Titans (1-3), while Savoie had nine.
BOYS HOOPS
GT Academy 54 Alba 26
Alex Houston scored 10 of his game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter as Grand Traverse Academy notched a 54-26 win over Alba.
Houston had most of his eight steals in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs reeled off a 24-2 run in the final period.
Mitch Drilling added 16 points and Max Boothroyd 11 for GT Academy (2-1), which hosts Traverse City Christian on Friday in their Cherryland Conference opener.
Brandon Milbocker led Alba with 10 points.
TCSF frosh 48 Elk Rapids frosh 23
Jay Klinglesmith scored 15 points to lead Traverse City St. Francis to a 48-23 freshman victory over Elk Rapids.
Joe Caotes added 12 points and Joe Trucco nine for the Gladiators (2-1).
