FRANKFORT — Kevin James Banktson, of Frankfort, passed away on June 11, 2012, after a battle with Leukemia. He was 54.
Kevin spent most of his life in Benzie County, graduating from Frankfort High School in 1976. Kevin worked on many farms in the area, as well as at Cherry Growers Inc. in Traverse City, Per-Clin Orchards, and Graceland Fruit.
Kevin liked cruising Benzie County, getting his morning coffee at the Lighthouse Cafe and catching up on the latest gossip; mowing his lawn on his riding lawn mower; and following his nieces and nephews in their sporting accomplishments.
Kevin is survived by his brothers, Gordon, of Grand Rapids, Les, Jeff (Julie) and Dan, of Frankfort; nieces and nephews, Brenna, Max, Paige and Tami Banktson, also Taylor, Lorynn and Morgan Banktson, and Wyatt and Trevor Crawford.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Betty Banktson; grandparents, Arthur and Grace Banktson and William and Evelyn Alpers; special aunt and uncle, Merle and Marian Davis; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Traverse City and Grand Rapids areas.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Gilmore Twp. Cemetery, with Fr. John Porter officiating.
Memorials may be made to Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
Arrangements are by Jowett Family Funeral Homes, Frankfort and Benzonia.
