TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County sheriff's officials arrested a man today on a fugitive warrant issued by Kentucky authorities.
A deputy arrested the suspect, 47, at the Fish Lake boat launch in Mayfield Township after the deputy checked the man's fishing license. The license check led to the deputy learning the man was wanted by the Bullitt County Sheriff's Department in Shepherdsville, Ky., for crimes including auto theft, burglary, and receiving and concealing stolen property.
That warrant had been issued in December 2011, sheriff's officials said. The deputy also discovered the suspect to be in possession of a vehicle reported stolen in Indiana in June. The suspect is being held in the county jail on suspicion of auto theft and being a fugitive.
He is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday. Extradition to Kentucky is pending.
