TRAVERSE CITY — A Traverse City man faces two felony counts after police said he verbally and physically resisted arrest.
Grand Traverse sheriff's deputies responded Feb. 1 to an incident involving Michael M. Morelli, 46. When they tried to arrest him on an outstanding warrant, police said he verbally and physically resisted them by kicking, struggling and swearing.
Morelli is charged with two counts of assault, resisting or obstructing a police officer, punishable by up to two years in prison. He is charged as a habitual offender, with convictions for breaking and entering in 1991 in Jackson and third-degree home invasion in Bay City in 2002.
A preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 16 in 86th District Court.
